VA Work & Technical Questions

Hey all, another new guy here. I've been following the project on and off for about two years now but with the occasional checks on the various recruitment and development threads, got the impression that the uncertainty surrounding the voice acting was that recruitment had closed.

Having recently read the recent replies in the forums here, it'd be great to finally get into helping out as much (and as best) as possible. Since the voice acting roles are still open, the samples should be on the way in due time. However, this particular post is in regards to some of the technical queries surrounding the auditions.

Taerkalith's guide on how to record recommends using a microphone that's of equal or higher quality to the Samson Go Mic. The issue is that, aside from the obvious, I am not quite sure of the kind of quality and equipment the team is looking for and can't really afford to fork out for the industry-grade/studio equipment. Some of the options that I've been looking at getting are the Rode NTUSB, the Stadium USBMIC1 and the Go Mic as the alternative. (Getting a pop filter shouldn't be a problem either.)

As I'd also being using this for other work and projects, which mic would suit?

If this topic is eventually made redundant if most of the roles are filled, I'd still be up for helping out with the naming voice files, but I'll leave that expression of interest for the appropriate thread. Cheers.

Hi Craftiian, new voice

Hi Craftiian, new voice auditions have been stalled for a little while due to us getting setup to run using Trello and making some updates to the scripts for new VAs. The good news is we're a couple days away from contacting new voice actors now, and there are still positions open, especially for Dunmer.

In terms of microphones, the guide you're referencing was written by someone from before my time and I had just reposted the info when we re-organized our voice acting landing page. If you're unsure what sort of microphone would be good for cheap, I'd recommend messaging Smitehammer directly on this site, as I believe he has better options to recommend OR preferably, join us on our discord and send an @voiceacting our way to get our attention. Best of luck with the auditions!
