Ash/Blight storm effects not appearing.

The sounds is there, the sky weather changes appropriately and the distant fog shows up... but the actual ash and blight storm effect (the one that looks like a sandstorm in your face) is nowhere to be found. I really liked it because I couldn't see 5 feet in any direction, but now I can literally see across the map just in a red or orange color.

One odd thing that happened was that I did see the effect in one very small area of the ashlands, but no matter how close I got it stayed the same size (until I got so close it disappeared underneath the land). Almost as though it's supposed to surround the player character but is stuck somewhere else?

Everything is updated to the latest patch/version (v064 for Morroblivion). Sorted with BOSS. I use Oblivion Reloaded, All Natural, and Atmospheres 4 (that effect weather) and they load before Morroblivion.esp. I have Streamline but I don't use the Streamsight feature.

My mod list is quite large, but I'll post it if requested. Please help!

Have you tried this All

Have you tried this All Natural compatibility patch for Morroblivion?

I gave that a mod a try. It

I gave that a mod a try. It made all of the weather in the ashlands and Red Mountain become clear skies no matter how long I waited. I enabled it indoors and then fast travelled to those locations.

Is there anything else I can try? I appreciate the help!

I'll have to figure out how

I'll have to figure out how Ash/Blight storms are supposed to work, then try to reproduce how they are breaking in your game, then try to make a compatibility patch for whatever is making it break.  This will take at least a couple days, but I'm currently pretty backlogged with my to-do list (several weeks).

If we're lucky, there was already a fix that was made in the last 4-5 years and someone more knowledgeable with Morroblivion's history will post a link to that original thread.

Thanks!

Thanks!

I'll continue to troubleshoot and report back if I find out anything or get it fixed.

EDIT: I completely removed All Nautral and all of its components, Atmospheres 4 and its components, and Streamline. All of the weather in Morrowind reverted to clear skies even after 3 days of waiting indoors. I will reinstall the mods and start a new game and see what happens.

Try Mod Manager to Reset your

Try Mod Manager to Reset your Load Order, Put all your Morroblivion files Before your Weather Files to see if it Changes.

01460000_mwWeatherAshstorm (Morroblivion\Sky\Ashstorm.nif)

01f8b26b_mwWeatherAshstormBlight (Morroblivion\Sky\Ashstorm.nif)

are where no other file can Over Write them unless it has been Setup to Overwrite them..

So your Weather files are no beening Read by Oblivion try Loading the Straight Below the ( .esm ) to Force Oblivion to Read them..

Could also try IF All Natural\Atmospheres 4 have ( .esm ) file Change their Load Order to See if it Corrects your Game. Boss is not all ways Right.

I don't have any files

I don't have any files located in data/textures/Morroblivion/sky; that directory does not exist. I removed Morroblivion, deleted my save, reinstalled Morroblivion, and started a new game but with no change.

All Nautral.esm loads after Morroblivion.esm.

I will place the Morroblivion files above All natural.esp and atmospheres.esp and let you know what happens. Thanks for the response!

EDIT: I placed 'Morroblivion.esp' above 'All Nautral.esp' and 'atmospheres.esp'. No change. I also learned that the mod suggested before caused it to only rain.. then the weather would get really dark when it tried to change and cause a CTD.

The files are in the .bsa try

The files are in the .bsa try without the Weather files first to see what happens, in case your Game is not Reading Morroblivion Correctly.

Since they're '.nif' I

Since they're '.nif' I imagine they're in 'Morroblivion_ob - Meshes.bsa'?

EDIT: I unpacked 'Meshes/Morroblivion/Sky/ashstorm.nif and placed it in the Oblivion directory as 'data/meshes/Morroblivion/Sky/ashstorm.nif'. Is this correct? I'll give it a shot and let you know shortly.

EDIT 2: Okay, the meshes are there now but they are in small static positions relative to the player character. I am uninstalling the weather mods now to see if it works.

EDIT 3..: I uninstalled the weather mods but the ash storm mesh is still intermittent and in a static position.

I uninstalled and reinstalled

I uninstalled and reinstalled Oblivion and started clean. I installed my mods from the ground up one by one to see when the ash/blight effects break... it's Oblivion Reloaded. I'm not sure how, but it stops it from working properly.

Just to clarify--the only mods installed so far are:

OBSE;     MoreHeap;     DarinifiedUI;     MenuQue;     OSR;     QTP3 Redimized;     Unique Landscapes Compilation;     Oblivion Character Overhaul v2 (and requirements);     CM Partners;     Morroblivion (Base mod package)

After loading those one-by-one I got to Oblivion Reloaded and the Ash/Blight storm effects returned to a broken state as before. I confirmed this by unchecking 'OblivionReloaded.esp' in Wrye Bash and renaming 'OblivionReloaded.dll' to 'OblivionReloaded.dll.noload' to disable the mod--after which the effects returned to normal.

Any ideas?

What version of Oblivion

What version of Oblivion Reloaded?  What shaders and effects do you have turned on?  My first guess would be to set "EnablePrecipitations" to off since that is weather related... and now that I think about it, I've experienced a bug with that shader where the rain will disappear at certain camera angles (which is why I don't use it). :P

For everyone's reference, the settings are in: Oblivion\Data\OBSE\Plugins\OblivionReloaded.ini.  Scroll way down past the keyboard bindings and you will see sections for [Shaders] and [Effects].

Version 6.2.0, and very nice

Version 6.2.0, and very nice find! I had been messing with the ini file but not in shaders, mostly the effects section and some '[Main]' variables.. Turning 'EnablePrecipitations' to 0 solved it!

Thank you very much for the help, I really appreciate it.. it's so nice to have the immersion back into the game!
