Food!

These are my fruits of collaboration with Angrywoman(recipes) about 42

For concepts reasons food is divided on four separate groups (lower class, medium, upper and special) To show progression (look) I posted three images below:

poor, medium, rich

Lower Class Dishes

1. Scuttle Dish
-Scuttle
-Saltrice

2. Hound/guar Stew
-houd/guar Meat
-Salt pile

3. Rat ribs

- rat meat

4. Poached Kwama Egg
-Kwama Egg
-Salt Pile

5. Fried saltrice
-Saltrice

6. Comberry bisquits
-Comberry
-Whickwheat

7. Ash Yam Bread
-Wickwheat
-Ash Yam

There is sign (VAS) I remember old custom that u "draw" cross on the bread. I think in that case we can use this idea too.

8. Grilled Hound Meat
-Hound Meat
-Salt Pile

 9. Boiled kwama egg
-Kwama egg
-Salt Pile

For ultra poor we can give only number 9, 5, 3

All concepts in attached file

NIce, I like it. Lore

Nice, I like it. Lore friendly and creative. I'd also like to see some extravagant dishes, probably for rich gourmee's or Telvanni, based on actual bugs. Dunmer foods ought to be as crazy as their culture in general. And you forgot mudcrabs too, for lower class. Mudcrab boiled in its shell would be very popular in Bitter Coast. Ashlanders would definetly roast ash hoppers on sticks in their little camps, maybe with ash salts instead of normal salt. Some small ambient bugs that we're going to add are probably edible too - we could catch them the way bugs in Skyrim are caught. Only here it would be a viable source of food.

As for the cross on the bread - ASV runes would be way too complex to be drawn on every loaf. I suggest just a triangle, which is a sacred symbol to temple Dunmer.

Also, whenever I think of Dunmer cuisine, I can't help myself but remember THIS :D

and special one

and special one

From Redoran cooking secrets

1.Crab Meat and Scuttle

2 handfuls of scuttle
4 pinches of wickwheat
1 large kwama egg
the meat of one mudcrab (two portions)
1 handful of chopped bittergreen

Beat eggs, wickwheat, and scuttle in a large bowl. Slowly stir in crabmeat and bittergreen. Bake covered in a hot over for one half hour to one hour (when a knife comes out clean).

2.The Hound and Rat

1 pie crust
1 pound of ground meat (mixed rat and hound)
a hand and a half of cooked saltrice
1 handful of scuttle
1 small kwama egg
a pinch of ash salts

Cook the mixed meat in a pan over an open flame. When the meat begins to brown, add the saltrice. Stir for a few moments and add the scuttle and kwama egg. When the kwama egg is fully cooked and the scuttle has melted, pour from the pan into the pie crust. Sprinkle with ash salts and cover the pie crust. Bake for one quarter hour in a hot oven.

I like them. Quick suggestion to remove the gross hamburger photos from your post. I get what you're trying to suggest with them (low,mid,upper) but I feel like your concepts speak for themselves as is. Good Work.

I agree

Yeah I can do some updates. I agree with bugs. But it is quite hard to create recipes when u don't know what bugs we will have.

And you forgot mudcrabs too, for lower class.

Mudcrabs could be useful.

Ashlanders would definetly roast ash hoppers on sticks in their little camps, maybe with ash salts instead of normal salt

I didn't know that we will have ash hoppers (I thought this is Skyrim thing) bu ti could be done. But definitely not now cause I have too much other work to do.

@taerkalith

I wanted simply add a bit more information. Lower class could be quite gross. Charred meat, no so fresh ingredients etc. In upper everything looks like food from adverts (which actually is not real food), shiny almost ideal. I wanted to suggest that not only ingredients but quality means too. But this is only for this topic anyway.

-----------------------

Some thoughts

It would be cool to create annual cookery contest form side quest for quest Redoran cookbook which u could join too. It could be quite immersive. And add condition that u could win by baking sth with moonsugar.

Second thing is that u can somehow suggest in background if someone is corrupted by adding luxury food in her/his house.

Third thing is that we should have opportunity to rush moonshine (skooma, brandy etc.) by using alchemy set or other thing.

Everything here looks great,

Everything here looks great, I'll be sure to incorporate what isn't in already into the crafting system, as well as some of the things I had planned for a while in regards to cooking. Something else that would be kind of interesting is house-specific recipes, like Redoran Cooking Secrets. I wrote a Hlaalu cookbook, and I was discussing the idea of Telvanni teas and brews that have a touch of alchemical/magical effects. For example, a Telvanni brew of Sujamma that 'brings a floating feeling of eased burdens' where if enough is drunk, it can cause the patron to slightly levitate above their seat.

@iceflame542

Nice, but for scrambled and fried kwama I will add some foreign ingredients too.

@GrumpyCat

Wait a while. I have to do some bugs dishes and some things which Drago mentioned

@JorgenGorgen

It should be decadent on first place. I was thinking even create argonian head as secret dish for telvanni, but it could be too lore unfriendly. We have got many cases in history that people eat sth only because it is rare and expensive.

Small update, big res in

Small update, big res in attachment

For known reasons recipes are in attachments.

Now I have some directions for future modelers. With some exception for dishes like lower class: 3, 6, 14, 7, 8, 15, 16, 23  medium class: 2 and upper class 16, try to create separate assets, without plates to give freedom for level designers to create dishes compositions like in this link.

For example in upper class 5 u can separate four types candies but give them the same name

-------------------

In upper class I see possibility to play with food by creating buildings, tows or even portraits and etc.

Especially for lower class, less for medium try to keep regionalization

I will add some additional vessels propositions too in next post

------------------

Telvanni will get brews as ice mentioned in that way I don't point to include it in this concept. I changed Hlaalu recipes by adding apple and onion to dishes (foreign ingredients)

------------------

Thanks Angry ;)

I've done small update. It's

I've done small update. It's a lot to do, so if 60% will be done it would be great. I added jellies and more mushrooms dishes. Small note, if you plan to do some cluttering, doing some placeholders for them could be useful (It could be even test for new ppl) Some of them will need plates, some don't. Even in MW we don't have levitating soup.

Yeah, I forget. Food in Skyrim was almost useless. So if in Skywind regenerating health would be much much slower. Every set of dishes could give certain advantages.

Poor class dishes (alchemy skill above 10)

- restore 1-2 point of health for 600s

Medium class dishes (alchemy skill above 30)

- restore 2-4 points of health for 600s

Upper class dishes (alchemy skill above 50)

- restore health 2-4 points health for 720s

- restore stamina 2-4 points for 720s

Secret cooking (hlaalu, telvanni, redoran) (alchemy skill above 70)

- restore health 3-5 points health for 720s

- restore stamina 3-5 points for 720s

- restore magica 2 point for 720s

@Natterforme: Those portion

@Natterforme: Those portion sizes are so...European.^^

I have the same feeling about this. In my country working people for dinner have full plates of food. They have small pieces of meat and much potatoes for example. But it is cosmetic thing.

What about eggs fried on a stone? In older times people used to do this more frequently. I myself tried to do this and can say that it was quite tasty. All you need to do is to find a flat stone like this one:

Set a fire under the stone or put small flat rock into the fire and when it's hot enough u put an egg onto it. You can do the same with other things. For example people used to make boiled water like this. It just need to put few hot stones into vessel full of water and it was boiling! You can ask what about all this carbon on a stone? People waited until it rests on the bottom.

In my opinion it is quite good to look how survivalists make their food to get some inspirations for ashlanders way of living

Nice idea, but I'm not sure if it would need new animations.

--------------------

One thing. If someone like to be creative and is linguistically gifted, some sophisticated names could be replaced by dunmer's counterparts (especially names from French, Italian etc.) Unfortunately my dunmeri is weak.

I wonder if there are birds in Skywind. Insect's eggs must be really different, if they would be so big, you would be able to cook them in ash of fire as you cook potato.

If there is birds' eggs you could use sheogorad stones to cook them, but you must be really big fan of eggs.

Cliffracers look reptilian and have some sort of plumage, so presumably they also lay eggs rather than live young. In addition, obviously kwama lay edible eggs, to such an extent that egg mines are throughout Vvardenfell.

In Morrowind's climate Dunmer

In Morrowind's climate Dunmer would definetly dry meat. Scrib, Hound and rat jerky should be pretty common among the settled Dunmer, and very common among ashlanders ;)

@Drago

@Drago

Yeah this is also good idea.

Friendly reminder to all wirters.

I have many foregin terms in in the names of dishes (french, italian etc.), so create some replacements for them in dunmeri to keep them more lore friendly would be nice.

Also if someone wants to, he/she can create additional cookbooks for upper and middle class. But it has very low priority.
