A very minor "cosmetic" suggestion: The track could use much more room or "air".
For example: The reverbs on the instruments are inconsistent: The harp has a nice amount of reverb while the strings sound almost completely dry. That's why the track sounds (for me) as if the instruments were recorded in different rooms, not as an orchestra. If you would put all instruments in the same (virtual) room and make that room a big concert stage, they would blend much nicer together and sound more consistent.
Hi everyone!
I made a cover of Nerevar Rising the other day. I changed some things, so it's not an exact cover.
I figured I should post it here. Maybe someone finds a use for it.
Been a while since I posted anything in this particular thread, but I think my medley for ashlander music is finally finished. All the bits can be used in ashlander tracks, and I'm thinking to make a different track for each camp.
Without further ado - here it is. With cultural inspiration I went mostly siberian peoples, like chukchi, since I think they resemble the Ashlanders the most.

Breathtaking. A note, consider using the drums a bit more often, or it will appear drawn out. Also, don't be afraid to add other singular notes, try experimenting by throwing in a g after a C chord. Not demands, just ideas to toy with .

WoW... just wow. great job, this blew me away. My only suggestion is throw in a wind chime going down a scale at the begining.
Alright, so I can't actually make music (for several reasons, amongst them are the facts that I don't have the means, and that I don't know how) I was thinking that perhaps I could post and provide music that I think could offer inspiration and reference for certain things.
I have a lot of pretty good ideas, though I can't really act on them myself, so I guess the only thing I can do is post and provide this inspirational stuff as suggestions, can I do that here? Or should I make a thread for it?
Well, I did provide a pack of over 80 reference tracks for different regions and situations, and I share references with most composers via Skype for pretty much anything they start working on, but I guess more reference wouldn't hurt.
Hi guys, my Name is Carlos Lavín. I would love to compose something along with you guys.
Just now i got invited to the forum, so i havent composed anything yet, but. i will start from now on, so. whit type of music we need most? which generes are already covered?
Thanks for the oportunity guys, hope you like my work. nice to meet ya!
I don't follow constantly follow this thread, Sorry if I repeat sth but anyone mod can contact this guy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jiwuQ6UHMQg It would good for taverns and some minors places etc.
here is some preview of some composition for a dungeon. no one has answered me, i don´t know how can i get an assignment so, hopefully they give me one after hearing this, https://soundcloud.com/charlie-lav-n
Hi all! I seem to be late to the party, but here goes nothing. I'm a producer/composer/sound engineer by trade, and a huge Morrowind fan. So when I found out about this project, I sat down and made a Morrowind-inspired piece (a combination of theme/exploration music, you'll know it when you hear it ;)). Hope you like it; it would be wicked to be able to contribute!
It recently came to my attention that the project was accepting original compositions. So I signed up real quick. Here's an homage to Jeremy Soule's work I wrote a few months ago:
I’m happy to see your submissions and that you’ve already coordinated yourself with Sharm to give your Imperial Cult piece a solid lead. I very much like it and I encourage you to send me your skype info if you haven’t already so you can engage the other artists more easily and get in on all the current updates for the group.
The Daedric Shrine piece sounds a little too sci-fi esque at the moment for me to consider it seriously for Skywind. Although the Daedra are from another world and their sound should be appropriately alien by normal conventions on Nirn, I do not think this quite hits the mark. Let’s not forget that ancient Dunmer used to worship Daedra, so perhaps something darker and more religious could be fitting?
The tavern music melody is not bad, but perhaps lose the background choir? Something more acoustic is generally a better way to go where taverns are concerned. A bit more variety might be needed to sell the feeling that someone in the tavern is playing this from their guitar or lute, but overall this is a good start. Keep at it!

Welcome to the forums man! Happy to see another soundcloud avid on here, a few things before you start composing (I see you’ve already given it a shot with a dungeon track). Give Jeremy Soule’s work for Morrowind a solid listen through as we reference it for inspiration, melody and feel within many of our tracks. I also encourage you to listen to many of the Skywind tracks our artists have compiled on their own soundcloud to get a good sense of what we’re bringing with this OST. Ideally I would like for musicians to be comfortable with those styles so as to make tracks that are cohesive with one-another. Don’t be afraid to message some of our composers for help regarding programs, samplers and other tools to have your work sound as realistic as possible for the best quality tracks we can achieve.
Do not be afraid to refer to me or any member of the team for guidance via this board or PM.
Niklas
I’m digging this exploration theme my friend! I’m getting a pretty solid Imperial vibe from it thanks to some of the instruments. I can see being great for some of the forts. Does anyone else have a different opinion for this? I’m interested to hear what others may think. Pass it around the skype chat when you have a chance to get as much feedback as possible.
Lukkar
Good suggestion!

Hey there, and welcome! Like I said to Charlie, I think studying Soule’s style would really give you a fair sense of direction as to where we want to go with our music. Your piece is decent, but it isn’t exactly an exploration track. There are some good elements (especially the first 1:30) but you need to remain consistent with what we’re aiming for.
Eldhrimnir
Now this is an impressive first submission. I think your knowledge of Morrowind is definitely a contributing factor, and we could use a musician who is a fan of the original game on the team. Mind sending me your skype info?
Graham
Hey there. Mind sending us a sample of your work?
Mik.Vasudeva
I like the simplicity of the instruments you’ve used for the strings. The beginning reminds me of something we could definitely hear in a tavern. Was there a specific work by Soule that inspired this one? I can’t seem to place the sound of this one myself. Either way, I’d like you to give taverns a shot. Let me know what you think.
I started working on an atmospheric track for the Ashlands region. I used a Native American flute to record the flute melodies and a harp for rhythm, with some percussion in the back. The feel I was going for was slightly medieval and rpg-ish with the harp while introducing a more Native American vibe with the flute, since the Dunmer are the natives of Morrowind.
I tried to capture the feeling of living in the shadow of Red Mountain, being rained on by ash, and living in a generally harsh, lonely, and barren landscape. I pictured a Native Dunmer man waking up to a hazy, cloudy dawn caused by the ash storms. He exits his yurt and he wraps himself tighter in his animal skin coat as the cold morning stings his scarred face. Around him, his fellow tribe members do the same, and some build fires in order to ward off some of the biting cold.
This is just a small sample. I named it "Ashland Dawn."
Edit: I had a look at the google doc and noticed the ashlander camps were currently not assigned. I was wondering what people thought of a track such as this playing in the camp. I'd re-write it, polish it, make it tighter and nicer, mix it, master it, etc. This is just a small rough demo, but I generally felt a more toned down, pulsating tribal percussion/flute track would sound nice for the tribes.
While I'm editing here, I'd just like to mention that I have a home studio and I am a multi-instrumentalist. I use Logic Pro X to record and wouldn't mind adding real instruments recorded live to your music pieces if you'd prefer that to sampled instruments. I play a few unique exotic instruments that might add some nice flavor to the soundtrack. Here's a list:
6 and 12 string guitars
bass
djembe
ukulele
mandolin
irish bouzouki
turkish saz
shamisen
taishogoto
sitar
native american flute
shakuhachi
banjo
jaw harp
For example, the Turkish Saz has a really middle eastern sound, while the shamisen, shakuhachi, and taishogoto have that classic Asian quality. Let me know if I can help.
Hi, I'm spanish amateur violinist and I would like to help If anybody wants and "human feeling" for melodies. I can record with GarageBand. Just send me a sheetmusic or audio file and I'll try to perform it.

Jaco, that piece was great. I could see this being used for an ambient or tavern track.
My one gripe would be that the strings sound somewhat synthy. What strings were you using by curiosity?
Otherwise, great job!
it's from sytrus i manually have reduce the effects i have had hoped that it's already reduced that much that it would sound natural
There's not much you can due with synth strings; it's hard to replicate acoustic instruments synthetically. Otherwise, nice job man.
