Hi all!

Hi all!

I think I'm late to the party but I'm Matt, a UK-based musician/composer. I was actually in the middle of composing some music for a Skyrim soundtrack extension mod when I came across this forum. I'd love to be involved if possible. I hope I can be of use somewhere.

Here's a brief sample of some Town music: https://soundcloud.com/matthawken/skywind-town-1

I can upload some battle/exploration stuff later but I'm just off to a footie match!

So much high quality stuff from everyone else here! It's awesome!

Hi all!

Hi all!

I've finally gotten around to do a proper track for Skywind. I really tried to compose in the style of Jeremy Soule to give it as much of an Elder Scroll feel as possible. I threw an homage or two in there as well. I made that track for Sadrith Mora. I've you have any more fitting locations, please let me know.

Here's the track: https://soundcloud.com/tim-grabowski/sadrith-mora

Suggestions and feedback is always appreciated!

The latest work Ive done on

The latest work Ive done on the soundtrack can be heard here:

Godkiller revisited

and here:
Ashlands

The Godkiller theme I revisited to clean up the arrangment, make it less "chaotic" overall, and then also began work on a normal combat variant of the theme (one that isnt so epic and over the top) which could be used in humanoid combat.

The Ashland pieces start off with "Ash on the Wind" which is a piece to be used for daytime overworld exploring in the Ashlands. The second part is "The Velothi" which is a theme that our own Sharm wrote, and then I arranged and mixed. This piece may be used for the Ashlander camps, but it will definitely be expanded upon to be used in Ald'Ruhn.

Enjoy! And as always, please leave as many comments and criticisms as possible :D

They are both sounding great.

They are both sounding great. However, if The Godkiller is being used at a theme, for the main menu or anything, then it should have more of the Elder Scrolls theme in it and be much calmer in my opinion. But that's just me. Either way, it's epic beyond comparison.

I definitely liked more the previous version of Godkiller - the one when two girls were clearly and distinctly audible. I loved the balanced duo of those beautiful voices which is somehow lost in the present version. Besides this new version is really, really overbombastic compared to the more balanced previous one.

Hello again!

Hello again!

Since I'm stuck with the ebonheart theme, I messed around with a melody that came up while working on it.

This snippet is from the epic version (that maybe can be used in a skywind trailer??). This melody seems also suited as the main theme (or main motif) when toned down and played more slowly. What do you think?

Hmmm interesting feedback. I actually mixed it so that both of the female voices were louder, and got rid of a lot of brass which was drowning the other parts out. The arrangement is actually a lot less "epic" in general because of this, but i can try to tone it down even further!

I love it! And was just wondering what kind of music would fit for Ebonheart. What I hear in this snippet is spot on so I'd say go for Ebonheart with this.

Speaking of that, I'm in the process of writing a Gregorian-style chant for IC shrines. I'll keep you guys updated on any progress made if anyone's interested. I'll probably need more than my own voice. ;)

Still in the planning stages. A friend of mine will be writing the melody, and I'll be writing the chant itself. Right now we're researching chant structure, modes, etc.

Liz

Your work is beautiful as always. I very much enjoy the addition of vocals to pieces involving Azura in some way and your singing fits the bill perfectly. I wonder - have you had a chance to speak with Devin regarding Azura's coast? Since he's the person assigned to that region I'd encourage you to pass on any recording and ideas by him in some capacity to make sure that you are both on the same page as to where to go with the tracks concerning it. I'm always happy to see material by you Liz, you're adding a lot of character to this soundtrack :)

Matt

This is adequately in Soule's style! Send me over your skype information so we can add you to the chat, mr. Matt! It'd be nice to get some dialog going with the other artists to get a direction for your music and decide where to put it!

Therion

That sounded majestic! Reminded me a lot of the dark choir out of Devil May Cry 3 even! Considering the gothic-like qualities of the Imperial Shrine, I think this is quite fitting. It might be a tad powerful for a place of prayer and worship - let's not forget that the Imperial Cult isn't the dominant religion of Vvardenfell and that their music should be a little more toned down to befit it's status in Morrowind. I could certainly see something like this making an appearance in the eventual Oblivion re-do, but this is amazing nonetheless. Great, great work Therion!

As a token of my thanks for all the great work you're doing with this mod, I'd like to throw my bass guitar skills into the mix. Nothing is better-suited to Morrowind than the Locrian mode, and that's my speciality; if it's dramatic, creeping, melancholy, and atmospheric, I can compose and play it.

With the amp I can give it a distinctly earthy, eastern sound, too.

I am unsure whether the topic has been discussed or not, but is anyone willing to write a simple tune for the House Dagoth as written about in "The Poison Song? It would be nice as a sound effect, not music, so it would only be heard as a faint echo in sixth house bases.

I would imagine it having

It should probably feature those Sixth House bells.  Resonance carried from Dagoth's tones of the heart.

I would imagine it having a careful dischordance that makes one ill-at-ease, as described by Edgar Allen Poe in Fall of the House of Usher.

"I have just spoken of that morbid condition of the auditory nerve which rendered all music intolerable to the sufferer, with the exception of certain effects of stringed instruments. It was, perhaps, the narrow limits to which he thus confined himself upon the guitar, which gave birth, in great measure, to the fantastic character of his performances. But the fervid facility of his impromptus could not be so accounted for. They must have been, and were, in the notes, as well as in the words of his wild fantasias (for he not unfrequently accompanied himself with rhymed verbal improvisations), the result of that intense mental collectedness and concentration to which I have previously alluded as observable only in particular moments of the highest artificial excitement. The words of one of these rhapsodies I have easily remembered. I was, perhaps, the more forcibly impressed with it, as he gave it, because, in the under or mystic current of its meaning, I fancied that I perceived, and for the first time, a full consciousness on the part of Usher, of the tottering of his lofty reason upon her throne."

Even bells with proper 'tones' can sound discordant.  Imagine what this could sound like with 'flat' bells?

Hi everybody! New here!

Hi everybody! New here!

I would like to contribute with the soundtrack (and why not, maybe something else :3).

My name is Filippo, 19 years old, almost entirely self taught (oh well, now not so anymore, i'm currently frequenting an electronic music course).

I have to say,the first time i met TES was with Oblivion, and with all the sincerity of the world i found it boring as hell. I'm sure that the reason is because i was playing it on console, and i have never been fan of this kind of videogames for console. I tried skyrim (i still didn't played it, looking forward to buy it) and i just fell in love with it. And because i wanted to follow the order of the saga, i recently got morrowind, and i'm still playing it, and i'm liking it very, very much!

Other experiences with fantasy games.. i played the first two gothic and i found them amazing. BUT, we're here for something else! :P

Ok, i read all the suggestions for the atmosphere and  the tracks already done, so a couple of days ago i started a demo. I put it in the music folder of the original morrowind to listen its effectivenes... and i found that it fits pretty well. In particular, i listened to it when i was in Vivec, i liked so much how images and music mixed together, so i dedicated the music for the city of Vivec.

Here it is!

Hi all. Hopefully I am not

Hi all. Hopefully I am not too late in joining this forum. I write original music in my spare time, and my instrumental music is very much inspired by the Elder Scrolls series. I think I capture quite closely the mysticism and wonder that is inherent in that music. If you have a spare couple of minutes to listen to it, I have uploaded a video with screenshots found on this page at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DhjbSeWIKhQ&feature=youtu.be

Let me know if this is the style you are looking for, for your mod.

P.S. Slight distortion caused by over compression can be heard in a couple of places. I think that happened when uploading. Lost a bit of the subtlety.

Cheers Guys,

Ben.

Hey. So, I composed a little something inspired by this comment:

Tajnarasha wrote:

We want to give Skywind very tribal and eastern undertones to represent the alien life on Vvardenfell as well as the ashlander roots of the Dunmer.

It's pretty rough, it will sound a lot better, and of course it will have a proper intro and outtro, but this is just a short clip:

Hello everyone. I am a

Hello everyone. I am a musician from Canada. I've been writing music for close to a decade and this does include some video game music, both for games that were once in production, and also for games I made up in my head. I mostly compose along the RPG vein, and I think I may be able to contribute, especially for textural exploration tracks. I have a studio in my home and I am a multi-instrumentalist, playing instruments like the piano, guitar, bass, mandolin, ukelele, irish bouzouki, turkish saz, japanese shamisen, taishogoto, sitar, sarod, jaw harp, harmonica, native american flute (which I think can create some wonderful textures for Morrowind), ocarina, and a few other weird instruments, so I plan on recording actual instruments while using certain soft synths to create ambience in the background. I don't have anything that would fit Morrowind recorded at the moment, but I'll work on some stuff.

For now, here is a short sample of my native american flute that was recorded quickly. I can see it fitting in Morrowind along with sparse tribal drum in the distance. I think it would be nice to use the flute for music in Ashlander camps, since it is a Native American flute, and the Ashlanders are the natives of Morrowind.

I'd also really be into writing some ethereal piano soundscapes like in Oblivion. Great stuff for exploration.

Glad to be on board.

PS: I'm attaching something I wrote the other day. While I personally don't think it would fit morrowind, it has a medieval port town/town square/town festival feel to it. It reminds me a bit of Chrono Trigger. I can't really think of instances in Morrowind that has this going on, though. But it just gives you an idea of the stuff I'm used to writing. It is mandolin based and incomplete at the moment. For the curious, here is a list of instruments that were used in this particular song:

Mandolin, hammered dulcimer, jaw harp, recorder, celtic flute, bass, programmed cellos, programmed percussions.
