Skywind/Skyblivion System Requirements

This thread is aimed at people who wish to know the system requirements for Skywind and Skyblivion. By it's very nature, Skywind is more demanding than Skyrim because of the use of grass, weather effects, high resolution textures and higher polygon models. Skyblivion, however, is not more demanding than Skyrim unless you activate the trees plugin.

Please post the name of the game, your system's specifications and your average fps outdoors and indoors (if you get spikes or troughs in specific areas type that as well). Example below:

Game: Skywind
CPU: i5 2400 3.1GHz
GPU: GTX 560 1GB
RAM: 8GB 1600MHz
HDD: 1TB 7200RPM
Average framerate (Exteriors): 43
Average framerate (Interiors): 60
-Lag spikes in the Bitter Coast

Currently, I'd recommend this setup:

CPU: i5 2500
GPU: GTX 660 Ti (2GB or higher)
RAM: 8GB 1333MHz
HDD: 1TB 7200RPM or any SSD with enough space.

Game: Skyblivion
Average Framerate (Interiors): 60
Average Framerate (Exteriors): 54
-Goes down to 15 in forested areas, due to poorly optimized trees.

Thanks all, this will give people a better understanding the more people post on it.

You may want to edit your

You may want to edit your post and mention you want a gfx card with >1Gb of vram. Personally I've found that having 2 really makes the game run much better, with the help of enboost. After installing the later I could really see my vram's use go up, and my old card, same card just with less ram, just wasn't cutting it.

It's a gtx 570

and in all honesty the gtx 750 ti would do the job well enough.

We're talking about playing a game how it was meant to be played. 60 fps most of the time on ultra. A GTX 750 Ti is irrelevant.

You won't be getting 60fps all the time and loading screens may take a while since you don't have an SSD. Your processor will also be bottlenecking your GPU but you may not notice it too much. Your video card is faster than mine, and I've already posted what I get in the original post, so you should be fine.

WTF. You don't need 60 FPS all the time. Anything above 30 is barely noticeable. Movies and consoles don't go as high as 60 FPS, you don't need to go that high to get smooth stutterless gameplay.

I totally disagree, not only is it noticeable once I played in 60 fps I couldn't go back, especially on bigger screens. And remember all the frame rate drops when a scene loads that strains the hardware. It makes it even more obvious. For example I hadn't played on  console for a while and once I played GTA V the 30 fps was so noticeable I couldn't believe it.

Well over 30 I've never noticed stutter and no stutter means perfect for me really. I'm not sure what you mean about 60 FPS tbh but I'll accept it as truth since I haven't played at 60 in intensive games for a while.

I have an AMD FX8350, Radeon

I have an AMD FX8350, Sapphire HD7970ghz Vapor-X (3gb), 8gb memory and Win7Pro 64bit. I can run Skyrim on Ultra (with x8AA and x16anis) with Vurts Flora Overhaul and 2048x2048 textures with a fps of between 57 to 60 at 1680x1050 (16:10 aspect ratio) even in demanding areas like Falkreath Hold and the more wooded areas of the Rift.

If you can come anywhere near my system config, you'll probably run Skywind/blivion fine.

I blame Microsoft and the Xbone more than I do any of the shifty, underhanded, and deceitful publishers out there (Ubisoft, EA, Activision, etc).

The difference between 30 and

The difference between 30 and 60fps (in Skyrim) is extremely noticable. In other games e.g. Infamous 2nd Son, it pretty much feels like 60fps even though it's only 30-40. Yes, I know it's a console example but it still applies.

Yeah that's about right, an SSD is pretty essential in Skywind though, loading times are quite long.

Pretty sure I can handle your forested areas and "poorly optimized trees"... Also, is there support for 5760x1080? what you've made is pretty as hell and I want to experience it across all of my monitors!

Well if Skyrim supports

Well if Skyrim supports 5760x1080, which I'm certain it does, then Skywind will - since it's a mod. But at that resolution even your 780 Tis might dip down a bit, in the forests.

Somewhat related to the

Somewhat related to the Requirements topic. Recently GOG was granted rights to distribute Morrowind (as well as other Elder Scrolls games) through their service. In light of the Skywind project, and because it was such a low price, I snapped it up quick. Now as I peruse the nexusmods website I've noticed that some mods for Morrowind do not work with the GOG copy. I was wondering: Will Skywind work with a GOG copy?

The Morrowind sold at said website comes with all the Expansions and a few official mods released by Bethesda (AreaEffectArrows.esp, adamantiumarmor.esp, EBQ_artifact.esp, Seige at Firemoth.esp, bcsounds.esp)

(GOG: GoodOldGames website)

PS: Thanks for posting specs. Good to know I'm covered there. Was starting to worry it might be too much for my PC.
