Greetings

Hey everyone, I'm Billyro.

I was originally going to post a comprehensive introduction to myself, but for some reason, the page got redirected after about 1,000 words and I lost it all. This time, I'll be brief.

I am looking to help out with Skywind. It looks beautiful, in all honesty. I would very much like to help out with the project.

I can do 3D Modelling (weapons, objects, etc. but no armour, sadly) and texturing, and I could also have a go at writing (dialogue, books, quests, etc.)

I may also be able to try voice acting, though my current recording equipment quality probably wouldn't be acceptable for the project. If I can ever rectify this, I reckon I could voice male Imperials, Nords and Dunmer.

Preferably, I would like to design weapons for Skywind. I shall attach some images of my previous work down below.

Whatever is available, I'd be happy to help out with. Just let me know. :)

Hey, we are in an awkward

Hey, we are in an awkward period where people have pretty much "claimed" all the models, but going to be waiting a long time before we know whether they are resolved enough to finish or not.

Ever done rocks before? Here is something unclaimed? http://tesrenewal.com/forums/environmental-models-that-need-...

We have entire interiors to do, but this requires a special type of commitment, not always wise for new comers to take these onboard unless they really want to put in the hours to get it done.

Ah, righto. I'll just make weapon mods for Skywind once it is complete. :)

About those rock meshes... where are the originals? I would be able to do it, but I lack the vanilla meshes for reference. They're not in the morrowind.bsa file so I have no idea where they are...

I think it would be great if

I think it would be great if together we could create a list of things that we would like to be modeled for Skywind such as clutter for towns and landscape that any new members that are 3d artists can claim and give it a go. They will not be necessary like the recreation of the original assets but they would really add to the world. If the talent is there and willing, it would be a shame not to use it!

For example I would love to see a giant incense burner in one of the plazas in Vivec. I believe it would add to the bustling atmosphere of the city as seen in MK's concepts and would also serve an ecclesiastical purpose.

Each item on the list must have a decent concept piece and also must be approved by the majority of the team. How would everyone feel about something like this?

Arlighty, here's something I

Alrighty, here's something I just whipped up then. I've never seen one of those incense burners in person, so I've just been using your picture as a reference.

I shelled the mesh so that you can look inside it (I thought it would be a nice touch), but the downside is the big increase in polys. It's currently sitting on 1050 polys which I'm not very happy about, so yeah...

Also, the texture I used is just temporary - I wouldn't use it.

So the top part is for the stuff (herbs, twigs, etc.) being burned, what's the bottom hole for, offerings? It looks good, it could be for statuettes or relics, offering of eggs, Dunmer seem to love eggs. Maybe just a little alcove.

No idea. I just copied the above picture since it had a hole there. I wasn't sure if that hole was intentional, or if someone kicked the side of the burner and broke it in.

It'll be easy to fix, anyhow.

Interesting... though I do

Interesting... though I do wish I knew how that thing worked.  Any references, Andynev?

At any rate, there's lots of clutter and landscaping stuff yet to be made as well.  Kitchen wash sponges, wash basins, jugs, ovens/stoves.  Huge landscape tiles as well, if you're up for it and if you're given the approval of Rav and company.

You're clearly motivated footrot, so you'll be a welcome addition to the team for sure :)

Awesome, I'll have a go at

Awesome, I'll have a go at those later. I think I'll probably be able to churn out a couple each day, so hopefully they'll be done within a week.

I do have one last assignment for university that I have to take care of (and 2 exams to study for) but after that, I should be able to devote much more time towards this. :)

EDIT: Okay, I have started. So far, I've done...

\meshes\i\in_lava_rock_01.nif
\meshes\i\in_lava_rock_02.nif
\meshes\i\in_lava_rock_03.nif
\meshes\i\in_lava_rock_04.nif
\meshes\i\in_lava_rock_05.nif
\meshes\i\in_lava_rock_06.nif
\meshes\i\in_lava_rock_07.nif
\meshes\i\in_lava_rock_08.nif
\meshes\i\in_lava_rock_09.nif
\meshes\i\in_lava_rock_10.nif
\meshes\i\in_lava_rock_11.nif
\meshes\i\in_lava_rock_12.nif
\meshes\i\in_lava_rock_13.nif
\meshes\i\in_lava_rock_14.nif
\meshes\i\in_lava_rock_15.nif (will probably scrap)
\meshes\i\in_lava_rock_16.nif (also scrap)

If you want me to upload them so you can check their plausibility before I do the rest, let me know. :)

Also, this just occurred to me... I've been remaking these meshes to be almost exact replicas - is that bad? Like, comparing the vertex positions side-by-side reveals that they are indeed different, but I'm just wondering if it's okay to remake them without it being exceedingly obvious...

I could go back and chamfer some edges and add noise if necessary, but for now, I'll just focus on getting them all done.

Okay, never mind. Once I smooth the mesh and optimise it, it'll be fairly different to the vanilla mesh and this won't be a problem any more.

Also, rocks 15-18 will sadly not turn out very well, as I am using 3DS Max exclusively and those types of shapes are hard to make without... I dunno, Mudbox? The others should be right, though.

Ok, this one here is rock 13.

Ok, this one here is rock 13.

I did some super optimisations just to see how far I could go (and for fun), but the actual one will have more faces than this.

EDIT: I have uploaded the .nif files I've done so far in this thread: http://tesrenewal.com/forums/environmental-models-that-need-to-be-claimed-and-redone/cave-rocks-unclaimed

Also, another rendition of

Also, another rendition of the incense burner based on some concept art by Andynev1.

Still needs a bit of work (and optimisation - currently about 2000 polys), but it'll get there.

... I really need to post these on a different page.

EDIT: Some more texture work...
