[WIP] Lore-book Inspired Additions

While reading 'The Infernal City', I found some interesting descriptions of the Imperial City, and decided to include some of what is mentioned where it makes sense in the Oblivion Crisis time period. Notably, the Market District houses The Crown's Hammer, a Colovian pub in an alleyway, in which some off-duty guards and other Colovians in the IC are regulars.

The Crown's Hammer was off the main thoroughfare, around a corner and almost hidden in an alley. It was a half-timbered building, very old.” It catered mostly to Colovians, and serves a “strong, sweet” ale with “just a taste of juniper,” which is a Colovian style popular in western Cyrodiil but hard to find in the east. p.157

Colin paid for the drink and then found a seat where he could see the door, and sipped the ale. p.157

There are two corner seats with a view of the door, one of which Colin sat in, giving the player the option to sit there as well.

I'll keep this updated with new progress as I go, however, Skywind is a higher priority right now, so updates may not be very frequent.

Those settlements were

Those settlements were established at some point after the Red Year, and so wouldn't be implemented in Skywind, but it would be interesting as a mod for Dragonborn.

Moving on to the Arboretum:

Moving on to the Arboretum:

Moth-priests walk by in a cloud of ancestors

-Pocket Guide to the Empire, First Edition, Cyrodiil

In the PGE1 description of the Imperial City, it is said that moth priests can be found walking by in what is likely the clouds of ancestor moths that follow the player in the Dawnguard ancestor glade, as the moths are believed to be the ancestors themselves. In order to implement this, I feel there needs to be a reason for the IC Moth Priests to leave their scroll library in the White Gold Tower, and so now, the Arboretum's 'arbor' is of the Canticle variety. Canticle trees will attract moths that will float freely throughout the district, acting as a sort of ancestor glade within the city. Moth Priests will occasionally visit here, often stopping to meditate.

"On the 14th of Last Seed, an

"On the 14th of Last Seed, an illusionist by the name of Berevar Bero gave a very ignorant speech at the Chantry of Julianos in the Imperial City."

Response to Bero's Speech

"The School of Julianos is no mere temple, dedicated to mindless obeisance to a distant and hazy God figure. Julianos is a god, to be sure, but foremost he is a symbol of learning, logic, philosophy, and wisdom. We espouse no moral philosophy other than the goodness of knowledge. As the great Psijic once said, the power of ignorance can truly shatter mithril like glass. That is our enemy. Scholarship is a long and difficult journey, and Julianos does not tolerate those who wish to shorten it. However, He does bless those who generously donate to His School with a temporary increase in their magical skills. While we advocate literacy and education for all Tamrielans, our policy for those who wish to join the School itself is very stringent. We have little time to waste training the slow and the lazy"

The Chantry of Julianos in the Imperial City, where its school of philosophers and mathematicians reside. Jhunal (Julianos) was known as the father of language and mathematics, and it was a member of Juliano's priesthood that coined the term 'magicka' to refer to magical power.
I'll post Balmora updates soon.

While this isn't directly

While this isn't directly inspired by a lore book, I thought I should keep my mods in one place. This is a mod to diversify and give identity to the Daedric cults, so that they are not all simply statues with pews that appear to be built by the same stonemason. Some of these will have interiors to serve as living quarters, and are designed to personalize the shrines based on the cult.

Whoops! I knew that!

On an off-topic... Glad you read up on The Infernal City and Lord of Souls. Very few have. :)

Looks great as always! Please forgive me for not noticing Skyblivion instead of Skywind. I was clearly click happy.

"When Secundus (sic) rose, he

"When Secundus (sic) rose, he could see the waterfront not far ahead. It was on an island, separated from the city, with the harbor facing inward. The old stone buildings formed a semicircle enclosing the harbor, and he was coming from behind. In the pale light he could see the hundreds of shacks, shanties, and lean-tos that crowded between the wall and the water, and in fact many were built raised up from the water. He smelled the stink of it already, the various stenches of human waste, rotting fish and offal, cheap beer. He thought about going around, but it was a long way and he was tired of rowing, so he passed as noiselessly as possible through the stilts and ladders of the outer houses" (Pg. 241)

Lord of souls describes the waterfront slums as extending out from the water, and I plan to include the stilt houses over the Rumare, as well as warehouses and wharves.

Census and Excise office, this will house the tax records from the Untaxing the Poor quest.
