Skyrim - Cyrodiil compatible?...

Hi, in Skyrim we have the road to Cyrodiil but we just come to a closed gate. So when this is released, is there any possibility that we can have that gate open so we can walk inbetween Skyrim and Cyrodiil?...

Skyblivion is a separate

Skyblivion is a separate worldspace so no. This is possible in the beyond skyrim mod, but not in Skyblivion. I think the worldsize limits wouldnt' work and you'd lose half of cyrodiil. Plus there is a bit of a dimensional difference between the two games in terms of how much space the provinces should take up between the two games.

Thats not true at all, actually. Since Daggerfall, Bethesda has kept the dimensions of Tamriel 1:1 between games. They were so careful in fact, they created Low poly versions of Red mountain and the White Gold tower as reference points In game. I don't know about the world size however, but in terms of scale I'm impressed by their efforts.

Thats not me saying they shouldn't be seperate though, like I said the world size could be an issue, and plus they're 200 years apart so lore-wise it'd be like the TES version of Goodnight Sweetheart (old British show about time travel https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hhsGRaPxWZk )

@Django

@Django

1. You'd have major heightmap/different mountain placement issues at the border. Trying to line these two up would need some careful attention/modifying: As someone has shown here

2. You're right that the ratio is close. But is indeed not perfect as I've stated. What you see outside the borders of skyrim is a pretty good interpretation but isn't derived from the previous games. One could fudge it as it's basically a straight line with quite a bit of unimportant mountainous terrain that could be modified to work but I think you'd run into a worldspace issue (which might/might not be remediable).

Either way it's a big headache for a bunch of reasons even beyond this with defining regional weather/game mechanics/impact on the system/timeline etc. so it doesn't make sense to try it. When BS releases Beyond Bruma that'll be a much better fit for expansion of the vanilla worldspace than Skyblivion would be.

There surely would be a

There surely would be a loading screen between the two, and an open gate would not make a sense anyway considering that the games are hundreds of years apart ; )

The best solution would be to

The best solution would be to make something like the Morroblivion in Tamriel mod, where upon crossing the border of one world, a script automatically teleports you to the equivalent location in the other worldspace and vice versa.

Wouldn't it be most simple to

Wouldn't it be most simple to just add a map marker the way Dragonborn does? No room for complaint there, no silly background story, just boom. Cyrodiil -> Skyrim -> Cyrodiil via map.

Actually, Beyond Skyrim does

Actually, Beyond Skyrim does it's Cyrodiil the exact same way Skyblivion does with it's Cyrodiil ; Making it in an entirely new worldspace and heightmap.

Beyond Skyrim's heightmap was made by one of the members itself, and then "split" into several different worldspace for each region to compensate to the size limit.

Besides, the cyrodiil in the vanilla skyrim heightmap is waay too scaled down to use.
