Skyblivion Flora - The recreation of TES4 trees

Just want to show you a bit of the progress I made on Skyblivions trees. The original trees can't be ported for many reasons (camera facing, billboards, etc.) and have to be recreated.

For the tree creation I use reference Images mostly. In some cases I can recreate them out of the blue, have played this game a lot.

In game test:

no tree shall be forgotten...

Damn that looks amazing, good

Damn that looks amazing, good job on the trees, looks much better than Oblivion's plants and trees.

Whoa!

Whoa!

Zilav has to see this. Talk to him, as he is working on flora right now, too.

Seriously noice!

Seriously noice!

Hm, I don't know about the painted trees though. They seem to lack volume and a more uniform coloring might look nicer.

The first time I see

The first time I see Skyblivion with ENB actually, and my first thought was "Is this TESVI?"

Now I see the difference between a guy like me who just mixes and tries meshes from existing resource packs, and someone who does know how to model and make textures.

Wow, they look wonderful!

Wow, they look wonderful!

My only suggestion would be, to make the new models and textures as similar as possible as the Oblivion trees. If the new ones are bigger/taller/shorter... this can alter the game atmospheric and it will change the game very much and this can ruin the immersion.

Original Oblivion flora is

Original Oblivion flora is bland and boring for the most parts. It would be changed in Skyblivion exactly to alter the game atmospheric and make it look better with changed Skyrim lighting. And no, it won't ruin immersion because it is irrelevant here. Armored bikinis ruin immersion.

I agree with zilav on this.

I agree with zilav on this. My goal is to keep the overall feel close to the original but to also add detail and variation.

Has the grass been replaced

Has the grass been replaced as well?  Or is that just the ENB making the Oblivion grass look modern?

Grass is unchanged, converted

Grass is unchanged, converted from Oblivion.

Oblivion has it's own grass texture mods that can be used, and they are not worse than Skyrim grass mods.

It's surprising just how much

It's surprising just how much of Oblivion's assets manage to actually look good in Skyrim.  Ignoring all the legal issues, seems to me all you'd have to do to have an up to date worldspace at this point would be replace some textures for certain things.
Speaking of which, does Skyblivion actually face the same sort of legal issues as Skywind?

TES4 Trees do not fall under

TES4 Trees do not fall under that category, as the TES4 trees and there textures can not directly be used in TES5, due to game engine differences. Plus 3AMt is creating new custom flora, so no legal issues.

So all of Oblivion's assets

So all of Oblivion's assets are fine on the legal end of things?  That would explain what I saw posted about a new public release not being far off.  Awesome!

Fantastic work 3AMt! The

Fantastic work 3AMt! The trees, in my opinion, are one of the most important parts of the environment (as well as the grass) as they are the most seen assets in the game. I'm really hopeful, thanks for doing something amazing for all fans of Elder Scrolls!

I've actually set one of these as my desktop background, the trees and grass look even better than vanilla Skyrim and some modded Skyrim :D

Some more progress. Redone

Redone quite some more trees. Now I have to make new textures for most of them. Speaking of textures here you'll see a few more complete (but not final): Oblivion doesn't have that much variation on textures. For Skyblivion there will be real gingko, oak, etc.

Paradise 2.0

Random forest (around Leyawiin)

The ENB Im using is the Natural Lighting and Atmospherics ENB. You can find it here: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/50065/?

I thought NLA is designed to work only with it's own custom weathers?

NLA works great with most

NLA works great with most mods and also with new weather. As far as I know it only adds more weather types to skyrim. In any case, it looks beautiful with skyblivion :)

Hard to say about performance

Hard to say about performance compared to vanilla skyrim. I run it with many graphic mods and improvements. All trees have about 1/2 or less than there TES4 versions.

Generally my trees will have more polys than vanilla skyrim trees to archive the lush look. Most of them are ~ 3k. Some with less, some with slightly more. The most complex tree will be the unique oak. But its only placed once in a city worldspace, having about 5k. I will also provide options for textures. From low to high res.

Well yes, I have made a few other mods for Skyrim, main project at the moment is Shadow of Morrowind: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/35789/

Wow, that looks amazing, I've never seen so much grass in one picture in an Elder Scrolls game.

What ini tweaks do you have to achieve that?

My initial idea for

My initial idea for Skyblivion was to make it look completely different to Skyrim, so a person won't be able to tell that this is a Skyrim game, this means all new textures, models, weathers, imagespaces, etc.

Now I'm that person

Looks awesome 3amt : ) Are you planning to release this as a modder resource?

You should at least have a look at beyond skyrim cyrodiil, I'm sure they'd be really interested.

Thanks 3amt for helping us in this tremendously big project, we really owe you much considering we really lacked a flora artist <3

I really like you stay true to the original as much as possible. It's something imo very important.

About adding details and variation, the pics speaks of it and it's impressive.

Thank you so much and keep up the awesome work!
