"Bit 9" mesh errors cause crashes?

This isn't directly related to Skywind development, but it's something I'd greatly appreciate the Skywind devs confirm regardless. Using zilav's NifScan tool, I've identified the following error in the extremely popular Skyrim Special Edition mod USSEP (the unofficial patch):

meshes/architecture/whiterun/wrbuildings/wrfarmhousewindmill.nif
Block [1]: Mesh doesn't use SLSF1_External_Emittance but has BSXFlags with bit 9 set

While zilav's NifScan mod page on the Nexus indicates this type of error may cause "random crashes in game" in Oldrim, USSEP mod administrator Arthmoor (one of the most experienced Skyrim modders out there) stated the following:

I know who zilav is, and I know his word carries some weight, but you should trust that I know what is and isn't relevant when it comes to issues with a mod I put my name to. I can assure you that emittance error is of no consequence. I've played SSE long enough to know such meshes have no chance of causing a CTD. What zilav bases this on is his experience with meshes of unknown origin on one of the TES Renewal projects. Those have nothing to do with us, and are in some cases not even based on vanilla material. Plenty of Bethesda's own meshes won't pass that test and don't cause problems.

When I then asked zilav for clarification, he stated the following:

I created NifScan for myself to check Skywind meshes for the most common issues. I've been told by Skywind devs that mismatch between external emit flag in BSX flags and shader flags caused crashes to them, that's why I added that check. But I never experienced such crash myself. However having said all of that, vanilla meshes ALWAYS have those flags matching (after we confirmed this, that flag was added to NifScope), so judge yourself.

With that as background, my question (finally) for the Skywind devs is: What specific evidence was found to indicate the above mesh errors were actually the direct cause of CTDs? If it was only assumed that the bit 9 mismatches might have something to do with crashes, I plan to take Arthmoor's advice and ignore the errors as irrelevant in Skyrim SE. Thanks in advance for your time and response!

Nexos, thanks for taking the

Nexos, thanks for taking the time to ask about this and post the responses; it looks like the error isn't anything to worry about after all. Cheers!
