It appears my translations are causing some serious issues here! And I thought just doing the translating was bad enough, haha.
I'd reeeeeally prefer not to rewrite the damn things because it took so long in the first place, but I'm happy to try and help you out with it Chris. I'll have a look through and see what I can do with this bothersome character limitation if you like. Just let me know :)
@Aurabelle - LOL! I chose one of the hardest in the list to do as my first. I made my choice by going down the list and picking the first one that had not been done and I was wondering why it had been skipped over. Now I know.
I am not suggesting a total rewrite of all the long dialogues but maybe a definite split to where they will look good as a subtitile like with ... or ___ at the break.
Skyrim's CK will only allow for 149 characters per line of dialogue. Booo to Bethesda for that. The CK is messed up in some other serious places as well. Modded Bows for example disappear when dropped and this is a CK glitch that modders can't do anything about.
I made a mod for Skywind in which I took the original Morrowind MP3 audio files for the introduction part of the game and implemented them into Skywind. I have the whole intro into Skywind voiced with original Morrowind voice overs and some of the lines of dialogue had to be edited because of the 149 character limit. I made that just for fun and it is posted here on this site for people to download if they want it.
Anyways back to the Banter. Take a look at the work I have done on the No Name Club and get back with me on exactly what I need to do to make it like you guys want it and it will be done. Thanks - Chris McCallum
Hey Chris, just thought I'd let you know the No Name Club is all sorted out now! Went through and edited them so that they should fit within the character limit :)
I also fixed a couple of little things there that were my fault anyway--the club isn't actually two cells (upstairs & downstairs), that was just me making sure only characters close to each other talked.
Feel free to claim up and plug & chug a few more easier cells! :)
Hey everyone! You've made a ton of progress, but there's still a few cells left to be implemented before we can move on to the best part, voice acting (*excited squeal*)! This is a call for all volunteers, young or old, member or guest, to help with these final cells so that we can finally start bringing our writing to life! You guys have been doing great, but it's time for the final push! Just pick a few claims and start copy/pasting away; an hour of your time combined with a dozen others' can do wonders here!
I'm going to give this a go, will claim one cell and learn the process. Will then try to do some more! Please tell me if i'm doing anything wrong or missed something!
Hey Jazzman, thanks for jumping right in! You're doing fantastically so far :)
The only thing you need to remember is that when you do lines from a Miscellaneous collection, you may have to find out which cell each person is in, because it may not be specified. For example, in Maar Gan's Misc document there's lines for Listien Bierles. He's actually in Huleen's Hut as opposed to being outside (which many of the misc characters are usually). This means that the placeholder filepath and the location will need to be changed accordingly:
So placholder filepath goes from [IBMaarGan1_1] to [IBMaarGanHuleensHut1_1]. Location just becomes Maar Gan, Huleen's Hut.
The UESP is a really handy place to find out the cells for Misc people. Here's a link to the kind of page you'll find useful: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:People_in_Maar_Gan. You can sort the columns by location which makes it a lot easier to find those not in the main cells.
If this doesn't make a lot of sense let me know and I'll try explain it better :)
Hi. Thanks for helping me out! I will edit my miscellaneous as soon as possible to the proper paths! If i have any questions, is it ok that I pm you Aurabelle?
Happy to help! Feel free to pm me, haha. I don't bite :P
Hey guys! New here. Been lurking on the project for almost a year now. I don't really have many technical skills so I thought I could at least work on this!
How typical of me to arrive late for the party--when all the booze is gone! About 10 months ago I offered my writing/editing experience, but was either in the wrong place, or you guys had it well in hand already. Still, I will see if a few scraps are left and will continue to offer help (even if it only amounts to moral support/cheerleading).
ETA: Aurabelle, it looks like yours are the last bits outstanding in this phase, so if you want another shoulder to share the load, please ask.
Hey Gordeleth, sorry to hear you missed out on this!
While I do have the last dregs to finish up, they're actually only there because they're still being translated/edited, and I don't have them yet :)
However, if you're a decent writer (which I'm thinking you are :D ) we probably still have use for you in other areas, so flick me a PM if you're interested and I'll see what I can do.
I thought this would be a good place for me to help since I don't have much CK/modeling skills. Looks like I'm a bit late :P I will stick around for the voice acting part, that sounds fun!
UPDATE: This part of the process is now officially complete! Hooray! A huge thanks to everyone who helped with implementing these lines; it's an under-appreciated but crucial part of this operation. For those of you that didn't get a chance to help out, don't worry; there's sure to be more to come in the immediate future, so keep your eyes peeled!
