At least you can overlay in photoshop a layer with different clouds modifier with low opacity. This will make wood texture more recognisable from distance.
Shack 3 is done being modeled. With this, the bulk of the modeling for the exteriors is finished, the only things left being the platforms and wooden foundations for shacks 4 and 5.
I also made a few texture and vertex color changes to all the shacks, the main one being the creation of new, more gnarly-looking planks. I think that the changes make the shacks look a bit more realistic.
Those new textures looks really good!
new textures look more natural and worn, big improvement and the shacks look great!
Shack 3 is finished, which means that the three main forms are completed. The only thing left to do for the exteriors is to add the platforms for shacks 4 and 5 (which are otherwise the same as 2 and 3).
Also, I would like to thank everyone for the support, critique, and suggestions given throughout the course of this project's run. I really appreciate it.
I'm back again with Shack 4, the first of the two platform/dock shacks. As I've said before, it's Shack 2 on a wooden platform.
One more exterior to go.
Really great work!
Will be good if it's bottom would be reachable from at least one side (can add Unlocked hatch to some houses).
At long last, the final shack exterior is finished.
The shacks are now ready to be used in the game. Stay tuned to this topic for the rest of the interiors.
i don't know what is pushing me to say this, but the cross hatch pattern near the roof, looks a bit nordic. its probably just me -_-
why not try a kind of woven thatch, or banner cloth
The thatch is made of sticks and dirt. Its use on the shacks was discussed and approved months ago. The texture is not being changed.
Alright, time to raise this thread from the ashes with... a door.
Still have to make the normal map and add a few details to the diffuse (nails in the cross boards, maybe a little moss in the crevices and cracks) but soon this thing should be ready to plug that black void that exists in all the shack doorways.
Back again, with a shot of the completed door ingame.
Now to finish up the interiors...
Time for an update on interiors. Shack 2 was remade (the old one was too large) and Shack 4 was finished.
That's about it for now. Stay tuned.
Awesome! This looks fantastic :D
theres a really old abandoned shack in BC, i plan to live there in skywind. will u make that one unique?
Interiors 3 and 5 are now complete.
As much as I'd like to say that this ends the shack project, I need to make several alterations to the Shack 1 Interior first. Seems I'll be finishing with the same model I originally started.
these look awesome twenty! Send them to me ASAP :)
Yeeeeees Twenty! These are looking perfect :)
All the shack models have been completed and sent off to be merged with Skywind. Rather than post more screenshots, I've put together a simple video to illustrate how they would look during actual gameplay.
Clip here for the video
Other than whatever small fixes remain (and lods), the shack project is finished.
One maybe a bit stupid question. The light effects inside will be changing (beam light, interior sky) during daytime?
These are just test interiors that I filled with a few basic Skyrim assets to try out how things worked. What they look like in Skywind will depend on the designers and clutterers. I do know that the interior sky already changes based on the time of day, though.
Since you already have them placed in Skyrim, you can create LOD models and quickly test how they look in game with TES5LODGen.
This is cool Twenty! I'll include it in the monthly blog post :) People love videos!
excellent complete job, no need for others to add to it. more of this stuff please :D
