Variner's Ring Not in Inv even if you add through console.

Playing ver 64. I'm on the Black Darts gang quest at the beginning of Tribunal in Mournhold. I have finished the quest, killed the gang, talked to Narisa and she gives me Variners Ring but it didn't show in inventory. I added it with the form ID 102BB5E and it still doesn't show in inventory.

Edit. The ring showed up, I don't know when but it seems to be a ring related problem for me. It just happened with  Barilzar's Mazed Band  which I looted off Barilzar's dead body. I know I'm supposed to have it because i got the updated journal entry but It's not there. I haven't tried to complete the quest yet, I'm going to finish other quests first.  If this ring suddenly shows up in Inv, I'll let you know.

Variner's Ring [0102BB5E] is

Variner's Ring [0102BB5E] is adding successfully into my inventory and equippable.  I am running v064 with Morroblivion-Fixes v1.8b.  I would try starting a new game and then testing adding the ring to your inventory, just to verify whether it is your Morroblivion installation or that specific saved game which is broken.

If you are still experiencing the problem after starting a new game, then post your load order.  If it works in a new game, but not in your saved game then your saved game is probably corrupt.  Fixing it may be possible, but will require custom patches, using a save-game editor and/or hex editor.

Thanks, see my above Edit. I

Thanks, see my above Edit. I don't know that i have any current fixes installed if they were not pointed to on the Morroblivion installation page, I'm sure I tried to install everything that was there.  If there are current fixes, I didn't know about them.

I just finished a months work on Morrowind, starting a new game is not an option for me. LOL

2d Edit: I think I found out something. I saved my game to go do some other quests but then thought, I saved it, why not offer the temple guys the ring and see if they think it's in my inventory. I went to see Almalexia. and missed a dialog entry so i reloaded to the last quicksave. After that quicksave loaded, I easily found the ring in my inventory, so it seems these items need a save and reload to show up.

Whats in your Load Order that

Whats in your Load Order that, Could Cause the Problem, have completed Barilzar's Mazed Band Quest then right through to the End of the Mad God Quest and Talked to Azua to End Mornhold Main Quest.

Edit

No you do not Need to Save and Reload ,they turn up in your Inventory when you Pick them Up the Same as a Standard Oblivion Item you have Picked Up.

Not Hard to start a New Game my Saves only go back to 2015.

See my Edit above. The ring showed up after a quicksave. I don't know what in my load order, how do I show that to you?

Er.. didn't you catch the drift of the thread..apperntly, they aren't working properly. I've never had a large delay with items not showing up in inventory or the items only showing up after a save game. It's like you don't believe me. You pick up an item or are given an item and Poof, it's instantly there in your inventory, that's how it's supposed to work. You know that, you have saves since 2015. I didn't have any problem during the Morrowind main game. This started happening just with Tribunal it seems.

If you click the link for Morroblivion "Active topics", you will see over 2 years of posts for bug reports, fixes, and mod replacers.  The main Morroblivion installation instructions and recommended mods threads have not been updated for about 2 years now. I realize it's confusing for new users, but unfortunately, no one who is currently active on this forum has access to edit those posts.

I would recommend installing the 2 years worth of bugfixes, updates and graphics improvements and starting a new game to take advantage of everything, but that's your decision.

In reply to Ponyrider quoted

In reply to Ponyrider quoted below - I may have to do that for my next playthrough - But here's a suggestion.

This forum still has Moderators doesn't it? How about Recreate the Instructions and installation pages adding this 'new' information, make it a sticky and delete the old topic - Now, all new people will have all the information to play the most updated game - Of course that makes perfect since so why hasn't anyone done it yet? Seems like they shoot themselves in the foot. I shouldn't have to jump through so many hoops to find all the right information, that's just wrong to put people through. Perhaps a moderator will get right on this or perhaps no one cares. we'll see.

What you say is very true, and I would love to see those changes to the installation and stickies too so that we don't have to write out the same reply to users such as yourself who get frustrated playing a 2+ year old version of the game without applying any of the patches and bugfixes that have been released since then.  However, when I said that no one currently active has access to edit those things: I really did mean the moderators.  The last time I saw a Morroblivion moderator who was active was about 12 months ago...  You seem very motivated and it's obvious you have very strong feelings about seeing updates for the Morroblivion website, so maybe you can help us out here.

Like many others, English is not my first language, so it takes me a long time wrestling with my Obsessive-Compulsive tendencies to make my posts just right.  Otherwise, I would be take more initiative in doing those things you mentioned.  For now, I'm trying to devote my free time to trying to finish the modconverter project for Tamriel Rebuilt which I started last July/August, and then start tackling several other projects that have been on my to-do list.
