[FINISHED] Tribunal Sidequests

This is thread will serve as a hub to track the debugging progess of the Tribunal Sidequests. Anathemastudio is also working on them but he hasn't replied to me so I don't exactly know which ones he's working on. Here's the list of all the sidequests andtheir current status. It's taken from here

  • The Barbarian and the Book->Done
  • Bouncer->Done.
  • The Champion of Clutter
  • Dwemer Warbots->Done
  • Estate Sale
  • Infidelities->Done.
  • The Museum -> Done.
  • Robot Arena->Done
  • The Smith's Apprentice->some debugging, some script changes.
  • The Thief
  • The Warlords->Done
  • Wood Elf with a Grievance->Done
  • The Black Dart Gang->Done.
  • The MatchMaker->Done, please test this.
  • Scroll Sales->Done
  • A Star is Born -> already debugged, I added the voice overs.
  • The Summoner->Done
  • Crimson Plague -> Done
  • The Natural -> Moved an object script to to a quest script because the quest couldn't progress otherwise and built in a quest stop after its done.
  • Custom Armor-> Done
  • Rerla's Mon's Pets-> Done, maybe a pack rat model would be nice, though.


I will start at the bottom of the list going up. Some of these are already in a fairly debugged state so it's less work than it looks at first glance.

Anyone else who wants to start debugging these quests is very welcome to do so. Just leave a post here with the quest you want to work on.

The rar file contains a few needed files and the single esp is the latest one that must replace the one in the rar file.

Nice! More quests is what we always like to see :)

According to Quest Notes document the following quests should be done already:
Champion of Clutter
Estate Sale
Smith's Apprentice
The Natural
A Star is Born

(But it wouldn't hurt to double-check, I guess)

Also, one thing I wanted to mention - ideally quests should have a StopQuest command once they are no longer relevant, because marking the quest as completed does not actually stop it from running in the background.

Currently none of the Morroblivion quests have this, however we might a well do the new ones right.

Also, stopping the quest will disable all associated dialogue, regardless of conditions, so this must be taken into consideration.

You're absolutely right in

You're absolutely right in that regard. I tried building in an early return command for the quest scripts which will skip the rest of the quest script entirely. I also tried using as few lines of quest scripts as possible. I would rather not stop most of the quests exactly because all the dialogue will be removed. Many NPCs build up their personalities based on quests and will give you special greetings, etc. From what I've read quest scripts if used correctly and not having them disabling/enabling things every few seconds don't take up that much time anyway. This tool could be used to find some ressource hoggers though. If I remember correctly quest scripts run every five seconds and take up a few miliseconds to complete alltogether unless there's a really complex script involved like the startup scripts of mods like Deadly Reflex or big quest mods. Luckily Oblivion's scripting engine is a lot more mod friendly than Skyrim's in which many scripts can result in the game basically becoming uplayable.

If you have any advice on how to further improve my scripts, I'm always glad to hear it. I could of course go through some quests and see if their scripts could be cut off if they're completed or if they can be stopped altogether.

Some quests don't have post

Some quests don't have post-quest dialogue ('The Natural' for example), so these can be safely stopped. Also, some vanilla quests set fQuestDelayTime to really high value (like 100) once the quest is done.

It really is just a minor concern - nothing bad will happen if quests aren't stopped, but it's nice to stop them where possible.

Luckily Oblivion's scripting engine is a lot more mod friendly than Skyrim's in which many scripts can result in the game basically becoming uplayable.

Yeah, ironically both Skyrim and Morrowind are touchy when it comes to that. Oblivion's got its own performance hogs, though :)

I'll change the Natural and for the next quest which is the Summoner there's only one after quest greeting which can also be put into fbmwMSGreetings. He's the quest giver so it won't clutter up the topics. The quest requires a negative getincell check which can only be achieved through a quest script unfortunately.

In tribunalsidequests1.rar you have fbmwMSNatural.esp does fbmwmsnaturalv2.esp  need to overwrite the First 1 or Remove the First1.

The Smith's Apprentice talk

The Smith's Apprentice talk to Ilnori Faustus , you leave come back in 2days game time Apprentice Gone, talk to Bols Indalen he has nothing in his dialouge to continue on the The Smith's Apprentice Quest. Dialogue for Custom Armor Quest activates with List and all.

The Summoner  Quest after killing Ovis Velas do you have to wait 24hours before going to Velas Manor,, went there and Gavis Velas is bright and happy to see Player ,reloaded save to check.

In vanilla Tribunal, after you kill Ovis, you had to talk to Drathas Reyas again who told you about the wizard's rumors in the first place. If you like I can change it so you can go there immediately. It would make sense to do so.

I'll also take closer look at Smith's apprentice.

I uploaded new versions of Custom Armor, Smith's Apprentice and The Summoner.

I'm also thinking about merging them all together. It'll be a lot easier to manage that way. Especially in the case of the Custom Armor and Smith's apprentice quest as they are interdependant. Any thoughts on that? Or is it better to keep the quests seperate?

Ok, I merged all the files

Ok, I merged all the files into one and updated the main post. Also included is the quest "The Matchmaker". There are dozens of possibilites to play this quest and even more dialoge choices based on those possibilities. I think I tested most of them but if anyone is willing please test this quest in as many possbilities as possible (i.e. only first talking to certain people at different stages in the quest etc.)

Put in New File re_loaded save made before coming out of Great Bazaar Sewers after Doimg Darkbrotherhood and Goblin Army, The Smith's Apprentice would not Pick Up the Quest to Suit.

Deleted Save Back to Ebonheart came back over to Mournhold Talked to Guard DarkBrotherhood went and Talked to  Ilnori Faustus he is going to Leave (Taunted ) Him Killed Him,Went and Talked To Bols Quest Picked Up Straight Away,will have to Replay and leave it a Couple Days after Ilonri Leaves to see what Happens.

Ovis Velas was a Shock when he Came up to Player Picked up Key,All ready new there was a Velas Manor so Went There dont Remember the Quest.

Gavis velas in the Summoner Quest  Challenged Player to a Duel he Died, he Summoned his Creatures then Come Running Forward in Front of his Creatures so you Can Attack him Easy.

Scroll Sales No Problems. Just Started Champion of Clutter.

The Estate Sale if you Keep the Droth Dagger instead of giving it to Geon Auline,  Quest does not Pick it  Up Leaves the Quest Open in Log.

High-Pocket's tells you to Lead on Cause you are Bigger than Him not Correct, Quest Completed

The quest isn't supposed to end with you keeping the dagger, at least it's not the way it was intended by whoever wrote it. He will however like you less. You can of course kill him and that will end the quest. I did not debug this quest, it's already debugged in the master, at least from what I could tell.

And unfortunately there's no way to actually see how tall your character is, yours is really tiny

There might be a pack rat resource somewhere already, but if not I'll make one.

Also, you need to increase creatures intelligence so they can follow player through loading doors - 25 is not enough, I think it's 30 or higher.

I just tested it again and they follow through doors without a problem. Perhaps you have to wait for them to be really close to you, sometimes followers don't go through doors if they're too far away. Or maybe you need to make a clean save.

To do a Clean Save means deleting 15 Save File with Quest up to Activating a Dust Storm,,Tribunal_sidequest has been Activated since Leaving Ebonheart to Go to Mournhold Side Quest have been in Between Main Quest..

!5 Saves Deleted Start at Ebonheart go Back to Mournhold, Go Buy a Rat, Rat Standing at Gate in Top Picture,Bottom Picture is Other side of Gate No Rat did wait a few Minutes. Rat does not like Something in My Game.

Might be because of 'No low

Might be because of 'No low-level processing' flag, even though actors following the player are supposed to always be in high processing. I also unticked 'Respawns' flag from them.

Try waiting for some time (with T button), maybe they show up.

To Brainslasher, some advice:
- When making follow packages, it's better to select 'Specific Reference->PlayerRef' and not 'Any Object->Player'. The former allows you to customize the distance they follow at and I think it's also more reliable (UOP changes some vanilla packages from Player to PlayerRef)
- It's generally good to add questgivers to noLore faction to un-clutter their topic list. This is especially true with Meryn Othralas, whose class is Savant, which gives him a lot of generic topics.

There's no need to change anything now (I already modified my copy of the esp), but keep that in mind in the future.

Tried Wait Did not Help, Did it for 2hours, Reloaded Game Did Quest Again Waited 4 Hours, Still the Same..

Issue..

Champion of Clutter Quest.

The Clue is (a Yellow Metal Plate with a Sun in the Middle ) have done enough Placements to know it was a waste of time Looking even Looking. There a NO Yellow Plates with a Sun in the Middle in Morroblivion,So even if People Use WIKI they are Going to Have Problems.

The Quest Works Properly But you Can Not Find the Plate on The Clues ( Morrowind ) Has a Yellow Plate with the Sun in the Middle ( Misc_Com_Metal_Plate_03.nif texture for it Is Tx_Metal_Brass_Plate_01.dds..Oblivion Conversion ends Up A Silver Plate..

Could need Clues Re_directing or a New Plate to Suit You will not Be Able to Play with Out WIKI then it Is a Case of Take The Risk on All the Plates in The Game.

Picture is Morrowind in Top Picture,Morroblivion is Bottom Picture not quite yellow.

I'm not sure how we should resolve this. I could always rewrite the dialogue and quest entries but that would of course stray from the original. Or we could find different textures that fit the actual Morrowind ones which is something I prefer. I'd like to stay as close to the original as possible without changing too many details. Turning yellow plates into silver ones seems like a mistake to me. Then again I don't know what the reasoning behind it beside better textures might have been. Btw, I love the fact that the only difference between your characters seems to be hair color  .

How would 1 Plate Yellow with Sun in Center go, this way Players might Pick up the Plate seeing it is Odd.

I don't think there is some deep reasoning behind replacing this texture - a lot of Morroblivion's clutter is quite different from Morrowind's original and not always in a good way.

We can just change the texture back and be done with it.

Scrolls Quest    Wife Plays in First Person Mode Mournhold Pawnbrokers front Door is Red All Day, you go in  through the Day, Ten-Tongues Weerhat asks you to leave, you Stay in shop and look Around Ten-Tongues will Attack after awhile.

A Star is Born ( Performers ) Quest completed no Problems. the Disco afterwards was a Lot More Interesting..

Hahaha, that's hilarious  . Yeah, I wanted to to mention the fact that Ten-Tongues Weerhat's AI package makes him close the shop all the time. This already happened in the Tribunal Mainquest. I just forgot about it again. I didn't change it because that's not really part of the quest itself and because I'm not really good at AI stuff :D.

I uploaded version 2, all new and only containing Bouncer, Black Dart Gang and Infidelities. This will be the last major quest debugging I'll do until the end or march or maybe a little later, I have real life stuff that doesn't allow me to have a lot of free time. I can however do some bug fixing if anyone sees any bugs. Enjoy.

Agreed. For the moment I left it as it is because I don't want to change any original assets. I could change it if you don't mind. I can also change it so he also makes gauntlets. There's also an Adamantium shield mesh in the files which hasn't been implemented because it's not in the original game. It will have to wait until the weekend though.

This can safely be changed - we are limited to Oblivion's equipslots here and this can't be changed without meddling with the engine itself. So, yeah, combined gauntlets and no pauldrons.

I don't see any harm in introducing Adamantium Shield. It makes sense that a smith making custom armor for you can make a full set.

OK, I had some time this

OK, I had some time this evening and rewrote the Pamphlet. I also included the Adamantium shield and made a little icon for it. The prizes for the shields are oriented by the other items and the gauntlets are simply double the prize of the single bracers. There were no gauntlets for the Adamantium armor and there isn't a model for them here either. You can buy shields and gauntlets as well now.

I had another thought: Since pauldrons and cuirass are merged in Oblivion shouldn't the armor rating and price reflect that as well? Though I think this could make the armor a bit imbalanced.

Finished ,,Hunt the Dark Brotherhood,,The Goblin Army,,The Shrine of the Dead,,The Smith's Apprentice,,Bouncer was good not having to Kill Denegor Played Quest Both Ways.

Activated The Summoner,,The Natural,,custom Armor,,Doing Barilzar's Mazed Band.

Wife Started new Game as Male to Play a Quest on Morrowind is Coming back to Re_Do match Maker Quest Completed in V061..(She doesn't think the Choices to tell the Men What to Say is all Working,She thought the Most Unlikely Canidate is the 1 Chosen. ) Played it By WIKI to try and not Make to Many Errors. Even it is Not Completely the  same as Morrowind\Mournhold WIKI

DaeDra Completed  the Champion of Clutter Quest had to Use WIKI , She Could not Complete the Quest in Morrowind this why she wanted to do Quest,  we have Internet now Didn't when she Played the Quest in  Morrowind

The thing with Match Maker is

The thing with Match Maker is that no matter what options you choose there is always a random chance that the date will fail. There's also always a chance that the date will go well even if you choose someone like Fons and give him bad advice. That's life I guess. Can you tell me which Liches are killing other creatures? Trouble with Fons in the Match Maker quest, there was no listing  for advice options under the characters  quest lines.

Will replay it again when I get to Mournhold in  V062. If still not working will take pics.

There is no seperate "advice" topic. Once you arranged the date you have to talk to him about Marena Gilnith again. This will give you three choices of advice to give him. This also applies to the other suitors.

Infidelities Worked no Problem both ways Crouched on Platform out side  Winged Guar first stayed well Back.Reported to Wife.

Second pushed Luck Screens comes up and say ( To Close ) Back Away, Talked with Strange Woman She Attacks backed  well away from Taren before Fighting Back went and seen Wife Quest Completed.
