I am blown away by these early adjustments. This is freakin sweet! I can't wait to play this game!!!! I wish I was a genius modder who could help. This would get done in no time. Great job everyone!
hmm, well you don't need to be a genius modder to help out. There are easier tasks like npc conversition that will help out quite a bit. You just need to adjust the faces now, and make them look as close as you can to their morrowind counterpart and pretty. =)http://morroblivion.com/forums/conversion-to-skyrim/conversi...
Here is a link, the instructions are a bit outdated, because now you just need to do the facegen part.
Hmmmmm well next month I should have a gaming PC. Currently I have an Imac. I know some on textures but have never actually done it. As for faces, landscapes, object placing- I know all that. I like making Landscapes. I noticed small details on the screenshots in the wilderness where there should be some small rocks, some grass etc..
There are a ton of quests in Morrowind compared to Skyrim and Oblivion. This being because the random encounters with say Thalmor or Vampires and Road side bandits wasn't really used. That being said it would be cool to have those added to Skywind. Things like replay quests like "Animal infestation" with the Companions in Whiterun would be cool for things like the fighters guild or Thieves depending on which side wins. I don't know if that happened with the Morag Tong. Gawd it took me forever to find them!
When I get Skyrim and it's DLC's chances are I will start a Modding my own stuff. All the DLC's for Skyrim connected all the pieces of the puzzle and gave the whole spectrum modding resources from what I can tell. I'd like to see a Dune mod, a star wars mod, and a Lord of the rings mod too lol!
Yeah I've seen this before. I never really stayed commited to the oblivion engine though. Skyrim is better of course. One of these days I'm making my own.
Wow, you guys are amazing. I have been waiting for this mod since it was only Morroblivion. Releasing it for Skyrim has made it even more exciting! I cannot wait! I am new to this forum so hello, and I apologize if I am posting this in the wrong area. (But a great example of what I'm getting at is just two pages back.)
It looks absolutely beautiful, however I have noticed a very big problem. I noticed some very bad tiling with the ground textures. For example, if you look on page 5, page 4 in the url, there is a picture with and NPC named Stargel in the foreground. If you look at the mountain in the background, the terrain texture is very clearly a repeating grid. The texture is pretty seamless, however it is the same uneven image repeating over and over.
I am not just here to gripe though. My time is limited but I am an art student, and I am familiar with making seamless textures in photoshop to be used as tiles. However, I do not know how to work with nifscope alongside 3ds max, which is the software I am familiar with. If you would like to send me a private message, it is possible that I can help with this issue if you guys don't want to fix it alone. My name is Brandon by the way.
Yeah, our landscape is a total mess. The landscape was pretty badly converted due to the converter not knowing how to deal with the "None" option in Morrowind. If you wanna help with something like that, I suggest you pm eloth.

Looking forward to this being playable! It looks amazing so far.
Amazing!! So many new screenshots the last few days I cant wait to see even more now!!
Damn that pattern on mountains ruins atmosphere, looks like a chessboard
ya it needs somting to break the pattern spots whit smooth survise maby a bit of ass lying around like snowe ore if u got the time dump many many littel rocks there sticking out the land it stands a bit out whit so littel plants
but it is looking very good
It would need large rocks with lod, like the moutains in skyrim (maybe the basalt volcanic rocks from dragonborn, and probably some custom ones)...
Yea, it'll be great if Red mountain will really look like a big black rock volcano, maybe even with the smoke like in Dragonborn's Soltheim. Also besides ash and blight storms a windless foggy weather type with ash falling from the sky would be great. Something similar to Silent Hill:
Next time you get a chance to run around Skyrim have a good look around the environment. Especially mountains and rock faces. What makes Skyrim what it is? Its the fact that so much of the effort is into making everything look seemless. That is to say its very hard to detect where ground and the objects that sit on its surface actually meet. Lots of techniques are used, and its hard pin it down to just a couple of things, but we can definitely look at some obvious ones.
The sparse nature of the original Morrowind design means that rocks and the such have a very noticeable difference between their surrounding surfaces. Even where same texture sets are used between rocks and the surrounding surface. Much work needs to be done to match color/shadow shades so that they blend in more. The rolling smooth hills we currently have for Skywind are a hard ask for immersion.
TES3 has big 20ft rocks that stick out from the ground with little to no surrounding objects. It can be argued that this is how the landscape are supposed to look like and so that it should be left as is. However the proof is in the fact that it currently doesn't look very good, probably because we are used to much more detail in games that aim to make environments look as real as possible.
Some obviously techniques that are used are surrounding larger objects with smaller ones. A rock sticking 20ft in the air, is probably going to have some surrounding smaller rocks. Probably some foliage as well. Making sure the shades match up between objects goes a long way. Hard contrasts show up model differences, and looks unnatural with shadows and light not being realistic.
I would love to say that if we can get a team of level-designers working on Skywind that we can put some much needed work into making environments more seamless. However I am thinking about the fact that this might not happen. I'm toying with the idea that we might be able to cover a lot of ground (pun intended) with creating scripts that utilize some of these techniques. But this in itself would be a large project with lots of trial and error attempts, along with brainstorming on how we can achieve stuff.
I'm going to start up a new thread for "Landscape Editing and Level Design". Those that will be interested in making some observations and input will be welcome. [Edit] Please check out this thread for more information: http://morroblivion.com/forums/skyrim/skywind-development/3805
really love the new screens. except the mountain texture, but that can be solved, aye?
Just a few screens i took while running through skywind, vanilla enb i has no fancy settings lol
Here is some screen shots of some of the new books Machine made. They aren't all done, he still needs to finish up on the books that are already opened, and the notes, but everything else has havok, and can be read.
Now you can be a complete asshole and use shouts in the Vivec library for fun! Also no enbs used.
damm morrowind got haevy reading materiaal weight of 4 wil make book collecting a lot harder
Well, don't you think the book size is a little big in the screen shot, and warrants the weight of 4? Not all of them weigh 4 also. =p
new ashland textures, better tiling now compared to the old ones.
Yep looks much better. Can you also please smooth a bit that "erupted" ground texture on screenshots? It doesn't blend with your new textures, needs less details, contrast, more gamma I think.
yes i was planning to do something about that texture yes, maybe change it totally, i will experiment what is fitting in with the enviroment, in the style of morrowind as much as possible
Yeah, much better tiling, although I think that the light sand doesn't fit well in this region.
its enb that makes it light, i just have to tone down the specular map, when enb is off its got the same color and gamma as in morrowind
Dude, I think it looks great. Keep up the good work!
Thanks to everyone!
Hmmmk since JK wanted more screen shots to be shown to the public, I suppose I'll post some.
There is a Morrowind mod that overhauls the rocks for Morrowind like crazy. Eloth had a nice time yesterday of converting them over, which didn't go exactly as planned, but he's got them nearly all complete.
Here are some screen shots he took, and his wonderfull enb that has gotten such rave reviews. =p Oh, and the rocks aren't Beth's, so that's always nice.
Do we have a permission to use them?
has anyone done any work on the flora textures ?
my screenshots :)
the one with the tree is just superb.
my screenshots :)
That's freaking gorgeous! What ENB are you using? It looks perfect for Morrowind.
I love it!
Amazing! Whomever(s) did this is amazing! Thank you!
Everytime i these I am amazed. I have decided I'm not fast traveling when I play this. Goin old school.
dragon travel is going to be so amazing with this.
Red Mountain volcano is alive
great ; ) I was wondering if we could make some kind of "lava waterfall" like in the trailer of TESO (with lod) ?
hmm, im going to also add clouds around the mountain , so maybe it will be hard to see, but we can try
I mean something like this (if it's glowing, we should see it through the clouds)
of course it's easier said than done
and also what about creating special clouds for distant ash/blight storm?
