[WIP/RELz] Ghostgate Modelling by Varizon

A Russian guy asked me a permission for modeling the Ghostgate from my concept, well I think he started pretty normal enough, but yet it is a dummy

we where just talking about sizes - the right is the correct one :D we can't make different sizes because it will be a discrimination XD but u are right different sizes look more interesting :D

I like the idea that each

I like the idea that each section of the gate would be different to represent the tribunal, however I do feel that something symmetrical would be more esthetically pleasing than the current iteration of the model.

Pretty sure someone's going to make those statues from the concept art to adorn the tops of them.  And I'm pretty sure everyone's going to levitate up there to get a good look at them, too.

I hope the ballista is aiming to the back? :P You know, the front of the gate is not what you're going to defend, you'll be shooting at the mountain, not the other way around.

yeh Ballista is aiming on the corridor between cliffs, it was a perfect place to build to gate - so dunmers could defend it, we can make some quests when the gate is under siege by corpus monsters and you should help defending it

Love the light spilling out

Love the light spilling out of the gate! The design is beautiful, looking forward to textures.

Just a technical thing - the mesh looked like it had way too many edge loops in flat areas, very useful if you want a lot of detail in your vertex colours but it looked quite over the top for a game engine. Also if we are not going to be able to walk up to the upper levels (on the outside of the building) they should be lower poly than the ground level detail.

I noticed an issue on the

I noticed an issue on the back, these parts don't connect to the back of the structure.

In addition the bottom of the ghost gate needs to extend down way more so it works correctly; should be a simple fix I'd hope.

Maybe just bare stone would

Maybe just bare stone would be best for the texture?  Don't worry about matching their skin tones and making the armor contrast - just bare rock for most of it with possibly a few gemstones, like what you might see in an Indiana Jones movie.  Keep the gems used for Almalexia's jewelry, perhaps have sapphires for her eyes, a sapphire and ruby for Vehk's, two rubies for Sotha Sil? (Not sure if Sotha's appearance is Chimer or Dunmer)

Daedric - will the floating bones be for the chambers below the ghost-gate? That would be amazing! I'm wondering what are your intentions for those - will we see floating bones around the pillars of the fence around the mountain as well?

I'm loving that your statue

I'm loving that your statue represents Sotha as the God-Wizard is he known as, rather than the crazy tinkerer after he secluded himself in Clockwork. I feel it is much more appropriate of his image as a figurehead of the Tribunal than his skeletal, grim robotic appearance in-game.

Because its the statue of Sotha Sil that is going on the Ghostgate. Its going to look quite different to the Sotha Sil you meet in the Clockwork City.

There aren't, LA. And I agree with Taj that it should depict Seht like he would have been back when he was a more public figure. That said, I agree that the mask is a must for Seht and there should be some mechanical elements as he is described in the Lessons as "The Clockwork King..."
