1. This is a side effect of

1. This is a side effect of moving a game to a different engine. Basically, all spell stats (like duration and magnitude) are from Morrowind, but spell cost is calculated by Oblivion's formulas, which makes them more expensive. This is lose-lose situation, because you can either:

a) Change spell duration to make it cheaper, but then people would complain that it is different from original Morrowind.

b) Change base cost calculations, but it will affect vanilla Oblivion gameplay - something that we want to avoid.

2. Don't know why this might be happening. Do you have any mods that affect magic?

1. --> Try the turn undead

1. --> Try the turn undead spells: https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:Conjuration_Spells#Turn_U... (vendors and spells are listed on that link)

2. --> The TES4 Engine does not let you use a spell effect in creating a new spell until you are able to cast that spell.  Unfortunately, you can buy spells before you meet requirements to cast it in the TES4 engine.

Not exactly - you do not need to be able to cast the spell, it is enough to have proper skill level (or a perk, more precisely). E.g. my current character has Conjuration 100. I bought Summon Xivilai but I could not cast it because of too big mana cost - however, the spell was available at the spellmaking altar and after making a new spell with duration time 50s instead of 60s I was able to cast it.

Nice! :)  Thanks for the correction, I'll have to try that out on my next play-through!
