This is where you can upload your Nord voice auditions. Please keep this thread only for auditions - feedback and other comments relating to voice work can be posted in the hub thread.
Sample Lines:
http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:Snorri Two styles of spear are popular here, both used two-handed for thrusting attacks: the spear and the halberd, with the halberd the most effective. Spear weapons have the longest reach of any weapon -- except, of course, marksman weapons. http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:Fryfnhild A shipmaster on the Tel Mora-Dagon Fel run said he dropped a group of wizards and mercenaries off on a little island somewhere between the point near Ahemmusa camp and Dagon Fel. Unfortunately, he couldn't -- or wouldn't -- give me a more specific description. My guess is that they were rogue Telvanni planning to set up a base out there. Voice Description:
Hello, here is my sister and me auditioning for Nords:
https://soundcloud.com/szarles/sets/skywind-audition-for-nords
If you are happy with the samples, we could try to do any Nord characters that you think are suitable for the voices. Thanks.
Szarles wrote:
Kolfinna was done pretty well. what i like about the voice doesn't matter :P So i will just say what i want your sister to work on.
1. The voice is a little too slavic (russian? polish?). You hear it when she says "circumstances" Try to make it a tiny bit more english sounding but still nordic.
2. She needs to pronounce words correctly and clearly. "Death" sounds like "debt".. things like that need to be worked on.
Other than that, it was pretty good! well done!
Now on to Bronrod.
1. When you say "Snedbrir the smith" it sounds like 1 word. It sounds like Snedbirdesmith.. who is snedbirdesmith? ... Snedbrir - The - Smith .. the words need to be properly seperated (but still sound natural of course). The same goes for when you say other names.. Bronrod Droarer? Bronrod - the - roarer.
2. Nords are not germans. So say "we" not "Vee" .. Say "want" not "Vhant" .. and so on.
Agning. (1) Not Auckanink. I realize that this is probably due to your real english accent (as are a lot of these points) but it is important to get names right. If people are playing the game without subtitles, they will think they are speaking to Auckanink and not Agning.
2. "held" not "Hhhhreld" :P
Engar Ice-mane
1. "and I know that it is a lie" not "and i know that is a lie" .. It is important that your reading matches the text as closely as possible because then, when it is added to the game, it will not confuse players when they read along with the speaking.
2. Bear not Buur. just practice ;)
3. he seems to be a proud warrior so sound a little more proud!
I want to say that the voices are not bad.. but the accent is too slavic.. so see if you can work on tweaking it a little for the Nords ... :)
I have attached a file for you to hear the names that i felt you could say a little differently.
Hi, I'm just moving this into the Nord thread. The story so far:
Fish-Face wrote:
A number of people have mentioned the possibility of a wider variety of Northern European accents, hence these samples. I also mentioned in the other thread that I ended up recording all of Briring's lines with a Yorkshire accent while Langotriel's internet was dead, you can listen to those here:
http://fishface.org.uk/static/stuff/Briring.zip
Of course I can re-record in a different accent (c.f. Botrir tests!) - I just thought I might as well do it and see.
Thanks! And once again I'd just like to voice my enthusiasm with respect to variety. Skyrim had random American-accented Nords which sounded weird, but Scottish and Yorkshire are after all Norse-influenced ;) I'd like to record voices with as many different accents as possible, subject to suitability, availability and my own ability!
Thanks for all the feedback!
Langotriel wrote:
For some reason I was under impression that making it sound Russian was one of the acceptable approaches so I asked her to try to speak with a strong accent (based on what Gerdur sounded like in Skyrim). This should not be difficult to improve on, but yes, we are Polish, so we will always sound Slavic I guess.
Langotriel wrote:
Ok, I will try to fix this.
Langotriel wrote:
This was my (clumsy?) attempt to sound Scandinavian. Because it wasn’t clear what exactly was it supposed to sound like I just looked for videos of Scandinavian people speaking English with strong accent and tried to copy some of the patterns (like the lady here in 2:14 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4vylAqx4Qjk&feature=player_d...).
Agning was supposed to sound something like Ågning but I guess it didn’t work out too well ;)
We will try to improve on all the issues you mentioned and post the updated version as soon as it’s ready.
Thanks again.
Hi, I'm linking my Nord attempt again since it probably got lost in the other thread.
https://soundcloud.com/lielf/sets/nordfemale
@fishface
http://fishface.org.uk/static/stuff/Botrir-accent-tests.mp3
The last one is most like what we are going for.. Doing that with a slightly lighter voice (because your voice cracked a little) might work. Do as low as you can comfortably handle and sound natural..
@ A. Lee
I like it :) Make sure you roll EVERY R... also.. make sure you speak clearly
so.. you said "fair" without rolling the R.. and not so much on other words either. It is very important that we keep that part consistent with all the nords. Whatever take on it you have (scandinavian, scottish or russian) Roll every R.
I say speak clearly because when you say "World" it sounds like "word" as the L disintegrates .. perhaps because you rolled the R and are not used to it. Practice, Practice, Practice!
Other than that.. i like it :)
@Szrales
Well you guys made a good effort! good luck with your next attempts!
Yes, I see what you mean. I will work on it more and post again soon.
Thanks for the feedback!
Repeating post from main HUB.

There's a few variations in that link too, some are a little younger sounding.
Do you reckon that voice would fit with a grizzled old character like Ulfgar then?
http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Ulfgar_the_Unending_(Bloodmoon)
I've done some less aged voices in those samples on the soundcloud as well, and if you're happy with any of them, I'd love to go through and knock out the 10-15 or so characters with like 1-2 lines. As you say, I'd definitely check their age/appearance and try to match them up.
If you think the voice is too rough for Thormoor Grey-Wave, I'll get some more samples for you. I really like the character's back-story.
Here is our second audition attempt:
https://soundcloud.com/szarles/sets/skywind-audition-second
Kolfinna was recorded twice, the second version is more English like sounding, but the R's are getting lost. It is very hard not to speak with a strong accent and roll the R's at the same time.
In my recordings I experimented with pitch and added one additional recording with a very low pitch. Maybe this can make it sound a bit less Slavic and more Nordic...
These guys.
Here's my second try for the Nord accent. I paid more attention to the Rs and tried to articulate a little better.
https://soundcloud.com/lielf/sets/nord-demo-2
Some lines from previous posts + some new ones. I really need to get a better hang of Audacity :)
@Blazestorm
I have assigned you to Ulgar the unending as well as Ghost of ulfgar the unending
In your audition he sounds a little like an argonian :P try to make him sound a little more human while still keeping the rough and tough about him... make him a little less tired too. Give the Ghost voice more life! he is relieved so get that across. I want you to finish some voices before moving on to more! :)
@ Everyone else..
I will reply later.. I have a job interview in 20 minutes so i need to go!.. Will reply when i get back!
Ok.. well that went badly XD
anyway..
@Szarles
I think you should do Engar Ice-mane.. I liked it ;) I will assign you..
as for your sister.. She can do Kolfinna. Just make sure she gets the acting down as well as the voice. "He.. He slew my husband where he stood" .. That part is a very serious and sad line.. she needs to take longer pauses... she needs to put real emotion into her voice. Also make sure the sound quality is good (i can hear things other than her voice in the recording.. not good)
Good luck! Post Engar ice-mane samples in the main hub as you are now assigned.. Kolfinna audition samples can be posted here until i assign her too ;)
@Voiceandmusic
This thread is strictly for auditions.. nothing else. You will be able to audition til there are no more roles left (and there are plenty) Please ask any further questions in the main thread, not here.
@Zaf
I like your Briring voice! I will assign you. One thing though, you need to roll EVERY R ..cReatuRes .. iRon .. etcetc.. The voice is very nice! ;) Also, i want you to try the Ennbjof voice for Erich the unworthy .. Keep erichs attitude but use ennbjofs voice. :)
The rest of the voices were good but they might be better for imperials if you switch up the accent a little... try it ;)
@A. Lee
Perfect. You're hired!(assigned)..
@Mace
Love it! You are assigned now.. Make sure to roll every R .. Also, I can hear the room you are in.. are you recording more than 8 inches (20 cm) away from your microphone? is the room very large and empty? make sure you get the best quality you can out of the recording ;)
@EVERYONE
IF YOU HAVE BEEN ASSIGNED FOR ANY CHARACTERS, THEN POST THE FUTURE RECORDINGS IN THE MAIN HUB.. THIS THREAD IS STRICTLY FOR AUDITIONS. ANY CHARACTER YOU HAVE NOT BEEN ASSIGNED FOR GOES IN THE APPROPRIATE AUDITION THREAD. THANK YOU!
Langotriel wrote:
Thanks man, and sorry about the interview. We will work on her lines and repost sometime next week.
@Lango. Sure thing.
Langotriel wrote:
The room is made out of solid concrete, that includes the ceiling, and the walls are pretty bare. I'll try to keep my recording closer than 8 inches, but I'm pretty sure I'm not that far away when recording :) Is there any other way I can minimize the noise from the room? Like record under a duvet/blanket or something? I'd be willing to buy some equipment aswell.
@Mace
If you want you can make a small fort out of soft duvets :P make your own little booth. Any further questions should be posted in the main hub. In fact, post your equipment in the main hub and i will tell you what to do next ;)
First time really trying this. I'm honestly not applying for any particular character, as the excel sheet and I don't get along, so consider this applying for whatever you think I might fit. I just grabbed lines to read. (And I am reposting this for each race I'm applying for.)
https://soundcloud.com/lunaticked/briringcliffracer
https://soundcloud.com/lunaticked/briringdwemer
Hope I got the right sort of accent. R-rolling and such. If the voice is good for something, working on the accent is easy enough.
OK, here is my sister's audition for Kolfinna take three:
https://soundcloud.com/szarles/skywind-audition-v3-kolfinna
So I am new here, looked at the excel sheet and saw a Weapon smith character hadir, but no gender or race attached. so I am just going to put this here. Would like to audition for more characters but I am having a hard time finding excel sheets that havent been cast or are recent. anyways here is hadir
@Lunaticked I don't think Nord is for you... but maybe.. Teenager nord maybe? You need to work on the accent and all that.. but.. you voice might not be right at all.. How deep can you go? (don't answer.. this thread is just for auditions.. so let me hear it and i will make a decision)
@Szarles
It's pretty good. There are a few things that need to be changed as far as the sound itself is concerned though. The S sounds are quite sharp (my 2nd tutorial video will help you reduce the volume of your S sounds) and I can sometimes hear the saliva (spit) in her mouth.. I will assign her to Kolfinna but make sure she records with a dry mouth. Make the sound as good as you can and put all the effort you can into the recording ;) Thanks and good luck! (post her next recordings for kolfinna on the main thread as she is assigned now)
@Crispycoolroms
Well it is very little to go on but.. You need to roll your Rs.. it sounds like you were just speaking pretty normally. Second, the sound quality is not up to scratch. There is background noise .. If you have not seen my tutorial videos then go ahead and watch them (first post in the main voice acting thread). If you have, then practice :P.. or think about your recording space.. is there a way to reduce noise? is your microphone good enough? lots of things to work on so get to work :D Good luck!
My audition to Brynjolfr, I can do many accents so please give me a chance! If you don't like it, be honest, say what's wrong and hopefully I'll fix it!
So I tried something, but without a microphone, but if you want to be acquired, it will be another problem)
So I came up with the text itself, so that there may be a mad delirium)
@Vindaloovians
There are a few problems here. You sound a little young, the quality is not good enough and you don't roll your Rs. Roll every R... i keep telling people that..
Watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=88EH-hKNbDI .. then come back with another audition :)
@DmitriiBorodblu
You have a nice deep voice.. so that's a good start. You need to Roll every R and try to get ahold of a better microphone.. regardless of how good you are, we need better quality in Skywind.. thanks :)
That might be because I'm 16. I'll turn up the bass, roll my Rs and put on a deeper voice. Hopefully I'll be good enough then!
Hello my name is Harry and I'm trying to do a nord male's voice so just click on link and have a listen. Everything I said is made up. Thank you.
https://soundcloud.com/hazbob/skywind-nord-voice-audition
Figure it couldn't hurt to read off a few lines from some female Skyrim Nords. :)
@hazbob
We are going a different direction for Skywind nords.. they are not exactly like skyrims. With that said, your voice is not deep enough for any current nords.. BUT i think people want to implement Kids into the game at some point and then we could have you do that :) that is something most of us are unable to do! if you are up for it, we could see how things develop.
@Salty plans
talk to you on skype.
Crude audio, same equipment as my imperial audition :(
will have better equipment soon.
looking for what i can do to make it a better nord. lemme know!
Here is a sample of three different accents you mentioned in your video, please let me know what I can do to improve
@Strider54
I like them :) There is noise in the background and a couple imperfections but if we clear that up, you could probably take on a role or 10 :P In the voice acting hub thread, there are some tutorials in the first post that you can have a look at... try to fix the quality issues.
So, I threw in auditions for a bunch of the other races, and figured I had to try them all. I may be too young-sounding for a Nord, but I couldn't say no to an R challenge...
"worrllrrlrthy of a chieftain" ^_^;;; oops... well, it was fun regardless.
Edit: Added one for Hrisskar Flat-foot. May still be talking a little too fast, but worth a shot.
Hello hello,
rerecorded my audition, since I wasn't happy with the earlier version. I'd like to audition for a Nord part, in this case my lines are for Tharsten Heart-Fang.
Let me know if you can imagine it working.
Hello all you people, this time I'm trying out for a Nord part, I hope I haven't insulted my ancestors with this lousy pile.
I have added one more line in an accent that Langotriel attempted to help me with, hopefully it is better than the past few.
Hi, there, people! It is the first time for me doing this kind of thing, so I don't expect to be any good at all but I wanted to try for Female Nordic Voice. I just read some Eydis Fire-Eye's lines, but any character of any race would be fine as long as you think I can help the project.
So, here's my first try at voice acting ever. If the quality is too poor, a better setup can be arranged if you decide to use my voice. These are only some examples as I was hoping for some advice on how to improve upon this.
Hey there, since I want to contribute to an awesome game as this one, I would like to post a voice acting record of mine as a nord. Since I didn't had any lines, I just imagined me being a nord in Skyrim, and saying that:p. If you think my voice would better suit an other race, I would gladly make a new record! :) Any way to contrubute to a game like this is good! Anyway I hope you like it! Any feedback would be great!! Keep up te good work!
I thought I would try my luck at voice acting for Skywind, when I was doing voices for a Nord I couldn't nail the Scandinavian accent, so i tried doing it in a Scottish accent, now I don't know if my voice suits a Nord but heres what I did anyway.
Hi!
I've also tried my voice as Nord(sorry for echo), so, critics are welcome :)
https://soundcloud.com/vmkan/nord
P.S. a little improvement

Hello,
This is my Audition for the Draugr Undead, Aesliip: https://soundcloud.com/aurael-faeth/aesliip-06
However, I've been looking back over it, and thinking this voice could be good for argonian as well.
This is unedited and recorded from my desktop. Final parts would be recorded in a soundproof raido studio.
Other auditions are located here: https://soundcloud.com/aurael-faeth
Here is a Nord I did for Interesting NPCs, in imitation of the vanilla FemaleNord.
Female Nord
Hey there everyone.
Here are my auditions for some Nord roles:
Sjoring Hard-Heart: https://soundcloud.com/mdarkbladem/skywind-audition-sjoring-...
Radd Hard-Heart: https://soundcloud.com/mdarkbladem/skywind-audition-radd-har...
Hisin Deep-Raed: https://soundcloud.com/mdarkbladem/skywind-audition-hisin-de...
Tharsten Heart-Fang: https://soundcloud.com/mdarkbladem/skywind-audition-tharsten...
I'd like to hear your feedback about my auditions especially now since my old recording equipment exploded and I had to assemble new equipment. My audio settings might be a bit off so I'd like to hear your opinions on how these voice overs sound like. Thank you.
Now THIS is a Nord! ^
But you need to roll those Rs for Langotriel. That's what gives it that Old Norse sound.
Oh heck, I forgot those darn rolling Rs. I've been playing too much Morrowind and Oblivion. On those games Nords rarely roll those Rs. BUT I'll try to get new versions done before I leave for a small trip. I'll keep you posted.
Hey folks, really excited about this project so I decided to throw my hat in the ring with this Nord audition.
Hrisskar Flat-Foot: https://soundcloud.com/mats-paasche/skywind-audition-hrisska...
If you like it I'd love to do more voices for whichever roles you think I'd fit. I can also potentially improve the audio quality greatly, as I have access to better equipment.
A quick hashup first take of some Nord lines. :)
Ok, time for round two. Here are the same auditions I posted earlier but with more Nord flavor in it, at least I hope so.
Sjoring Hard-Heart: https://soundcloud.com/mdarkbladem/skywind-audition-sjoring-...
Radd Hard-Heart: https://soundcloud.com/mdarkbladem/skywind-audition-radd-har...
Hisin Deep-Raed: https://soundcloud.com/mdarkbladem/skywind-audition-hisin-de...
Tharsten Heart-Fang: https://soundcloud.com/mdarkbladem/skywind-audition-tharsten...
Hi everyone
This is my first audition test, I am mostly going for the accent in this one. I found some greetings dialogs online which I'm trying out. Would love to get some feedback on it :)
http://picosong.com/CPkJ/
@relativ9
The accent is good but the voice could be deeper. If you are unable to go deeper then we might eventually have to find characters to fit you specifically. Please do another recording and go as deep as you comfortably can :)
@TartanKiwi
I like your vocal capabilities but we are not going for the Arnold Swarchwhatever that Skyrim had. Refer to my tutorial video to get a feel for the accent and then try again :) thanks!
@Thorgeir
A couple words (for example, "humble") need to be said properly (Humble not humple). If you can work on that side of things then i think the flavour your voice brings to the table is a welcome addition :) Please get us another audition when you have perfected pronounciations (I know accents make it a little hard.. Norwegian here :P try your best)
